You're back! This makes me so happy! I understand the struggle of moving and needing to downsize, I recently moved in with family for health and sanity reasons and I had to go through all my crap and ask myself 'Do I want this enough to deal with moving it?" Pretty sure I cleared out a few books/manga. I actually had to hide a few at my sister's place because my mom will occasionally pick up my books and flip through them to see if they're interesting and I didn't want explain concepts like love hotels to her. XD As for the size of my manga collection, I'm going to be including graphic novels(I know manga are also graphic novels, but this is how I differentiate between the american stuff and japanese) as well manga. Currently it's sitting at 228. But I think it's slightly higher. The list I'm using is one I share with family so they know where to fill in the blanks and if I haven't read the series yet I don't like adding them. As for my favorite series, it's between Black Butler, SpyxFamily and Daily Report About my Witch Sempai(which is SUPER ADORABLE and I think would be a good addition for your classroom btw. XD). BUT my pride and joy is definitely With the Light. I got insanely lucky and managed to get all of the volumes(one of which is awkwardly in hardcover) in physical form without spending hundreds of dollars. This comment got really long. Sorry about that! But seriously, seeing your face again made me happy!

Welcome back! Yes, Marie Kondo is a Godsend for decluttering and narrowing down collections, especially since I also moved to a smaller place. So unless I wanted towers of boxes in storage somewhere I had to get rid of items that didn't spark as much joy as the others. Your previous collection videos also helped me get into other series that my nieces and wife can also enjoy, like Yotsuba and With the Light. Keep up the good work!

Glad to see your back! I wanted to say something in regards to Ranma 1/2 as you mentioned wanting to know Trans people's perspective on it (since I'm Trans myself). I can't speak for every trans person, but I will say for me the series was actually the first manga that really introduced the fluidity of gender (Albeit in an indirect way.) I think a lot of trans people growing up wished they could be the main character as I did too, or at least identified with the Manga/Anime.

OMG, it's CJ! I sold a lot of my manga collection a few months back, but held onto my volumes of Battle Angel Alita and its sequel Alita: Last Order. Now I'm starting the prequel, Alita: Mars Chronicle. And of course, I kept my collection of the entire Dragon Ball/DBZ, though I did sell Dragon Ball Super. I also got the entire Eternal Edition of Sailor Moon.

I randomly stumbled over your video - I LOVE manga collection videos and I watch a lot of them since they calm me down and inspire me. Yours stuck out to me: It was super interesting to hear you talking about your school shelf! That was unexpected but very enjoyable. While you were talking about what series is favoured by your students, I had a lot of images popping up in my head of students happily reading manga in your class room, talking about the stories and giggeling - what a beautiful idea! I wish I had had this opportunity in school! You talking about your CLAMP collections sounds like I feel about the CLAMP manga I own - I love the art, the stories are dear to my heart since they remind me of my early manga days, but every time I re-read the stories, they are kinda.. meh... they always disappoint me in the end :D For example, I loved the Angelic Layer Anime and I recently picked up the books for cheap. I read it and the anime is better than the manga ... 😢And I am currently stuck re-reading Card Captor Sakura. But the art is still so good! I'm so jealous that you got the complete set of Blood Blockade Battlefront part 1, but glad to see there are other people out there that love that series too. I'm just missing one volume and as of now there is only one listing online for it, and I can't pay over six hundred dollars for one volume. Dorohedoro is fantastic. You can get a better deal than MSRP through stuff light rightstuf or r/mangaswap. The volumes do get bigger towards the end, with the last few being double the size if not bigger than the early volumes. It's definitely worth the read! It's so cool that you share some of your library with your students like that!

KZbin, not recommending your videos anymore for some reason 😢 I’m two minutes in and I just have to say I’m currently getting rid of one of those TJ Maxx size bags full of manga and I also feel guilty about getting rid of them. 😂 Despite the fact, I’m no longer interested in rereading/continuing the series I’m getting rid of. I don’t know why, but I just feel guilty getting rid of the stuff but I don’t have room for new stuff if I keep them.

Welcome back! It's nice to hear your thoughts about your collection and manga in general. I have some manga in french like Spy x Family or Teasing Master Takagi in my JHS classroom which I give sometimes to fast learners to read. 01:28:00 Give Maison Ikkoku another try. Godai grows a lot as a character. Towards the end he doesn't ressemble the immature student from the beginning anymore. You'll understand as to why MI is considered to be an all-time classic in Japan. It certainly is in my all-time top five manga.

Welcome back. I have to clean out my house as well for moving. The thing is, I hate selling things but don't want to throw it out or donate it. Also having trouble deciding if I will regret selling some of my collection or not.

It's VERY difficult to start. The Konmari method (and really any good method) emphasizes "keeping" rather than "eliminating". If you truly love something, you shouldn't get rid of it. My collection adds to my space and makes me happy. If it wasn't disorganized or on the floor or got in the way, then it wouldn't be a positive thing. Of all the things I got rid of that weren't adding positivity to my life, I've regretted one. And I was able to replace it since it wasn't sentimental. I recommend starting with just one room and giving it a try!

Your library is impressive, feels like heaven. I'm getting introduced to things I don't know, and I'm interested. I do want to start collecting manga myself. I've done Re:zero (LN), Bleach, Burn the Witch, Chainsaw Man, and Berserk. I wanna try out less popular series, and see how I like them. Tis an expensive hobby, but it's a lot of fun I do respectfully disagree with your Bleach take, "Fell off after SS" is an opinion non Bleach fans have cuz of one guy. Most Bleach fans love what comes after, heck even the anime has been getting the highest praise among all the releases this year. It's my fav of the Big 3, since when I decided to form my own opinion. I'm a big fan of dark, depressing, and lore heavy stories.

I wish I had your level of contentment. There is no way I can have manga series that is incomplete I am such a completist😳. It drives me crazy not to have my manga series complete. To just own one of among the collection would drive me nuts😵. I would have to get the whole thing or get rid of the one that I have, unless it's a duplicate from a collection that I have completed. I wish it was easier getting certain manga artists works. I'm hoping for rereleases of moto Hagio's stuff. I have the exact opposite of your chobits collection! I have 1-4 in tokyopop singles and the second dark horse omnibus. I love chobits the most out of clamps manga that I've read. My favorite anime is cardcaptor sakura however. My most recent CLAMP buy was WISH in the darkhorse omnibus. It was super cute. I have the first eight of the clear card arc as well as the original. It's still fun to read but the volumes are so tiny. It honestly needs another anime season.

Really cool collection! However, if you mind explaining why you find D gray man unenjoyable. Yes, it got more severe after its hiatus, but to me, at least, the direction the story went was fascinating and helped it become a very different series. It didn't feel like other early 2000s shounen and became really mature and went down some engaging and introspective paths. I'd like to know your change of mind on the series. Is it because its themes becoming darker? Is it because the story becomes more complex and less of a typical battle shounen?

Have you read Alive Final evolution? It's Adachitoka's first series she drew I believe. It's a very heavy read though. A lot of sudden deaths. Definitely not suitable in a classroom , but I loved it in my teens. Most schools I went to didn't have manga sadly. I had to either borrow from the public library, read online(a lot), or bring my own copies from my then small collection. I have fond memories of checking out over 30 volumes of manga and some novels from the library. I remember checking out nothing but inuyasha a few times but I ended up having to read it out of order.

It was my first manga back in 1998, its stil my favoret manga. I like cardcaptor sakura but yea, clamp cimdrom. You spakt my intrest on kobato. Another manga i recomend for kids is rurouni kenshin. Glad to c you. I literarly had another video of manga colection, and i skipt it cuse i did not enjoy the guy narating, but when it was your videos turn on watch laiter, your naration hookt me. I would say it's a bit of both. It's nice being able to re-read a favorite series anytime you want without having to deal with an annoying pirating site & the ads that come with it. Plus you get the experience of holding & reading a physical book. And ngl, it is really satisfying being able to look at your manga collection anytime, walk over to the shelf, take one out, and peruse the art. I personally find re-arranging my shelfs very therapeutic too...

I have a some manga series I am done with I would be happy to ship to you and donate as long as your promise to put them in your classroom. I am happy to send a list first for you to pick which you feel are appropriate. Kirby was a regret purchase for me too lol. I don't know how many manga volumes I have but I know I have 100 Volumes of One Piece which is my #1 and #2 would be Princess Jellyfish which I own all of as well. My manga is kept on only two Ikea shelves with toppers I have no other space for it so it's highly curated. I am buying more on my kindle now with the release of the Kindle Oasis in 2019 you can look at two page spreads and it's a world of difference for digital manga.

Hi CJ, I don’t know if you’ll see this, and I sent this same message on Twitter, but that account seems to be active. Anyway, I didn’t think it would hurt to reach out though. I just wanted to firstly just say that I’ve been watching your videos for awhile and your collection inspired me a lot when I was a 15-16 year old manga collecting newbie. That being said, I hadn’t watched your videos again for awhile until this latest video. I noticed that you have Chrono Crusade volumes 1 and 2. I’ve actually had volumes 3-8 for the longest time and it was actually one of the few manga series I managed to get my hands on that I was a big fan of (manga was more hard to get in South Africa at the time) I just wanted to find out if you would be willing to give them away or sell them to me? I know that the series has some sentimental value to you, so I completely understand if you wouldn’t be willing to part with them.
