For Aiur! Protoss Take Back Their Homeworld (Starcraft 2 | Artanis, Selendis, Zeratul)

The Golden Armada arrived at Aiur, ready to commence the invasion. As Artanis addressed his forces, Zeratul revealed his presence. Selendis ordered zealots to arrest the "heretic," but Artanis, remembering his history with Zeratul, agreed to hear him out. Zeratul warned the Khalai of Amon's return and the looming conflict that threatened to engulf the galaxy. Selendis refused to listen, and Artanis, while more cordial, stated that too many had given their lives to make the reclamation of Aiur possible in order to back out now. He ordered Selendis to commence the invasion. Protoss ground forces arrived on the surface of Aiur while air forces provided support. The ground forces made their way to reactivate warp conduits that would allow protoss aerospace forces quick access to the surface. As they fought their way through the Swarm, the protoss noticed that the zerg were far more coordinated in their response than they had anticipated. Nevertheless, they were able to reactivate two of the three conduits. As they approached the third, hybrid reavers appeared, and fought the protoss alongside the zerg. However, even they fell before the Firstborn, and the last warp conduit was reactivated. Troubled by what he had seen, Artanis promised Zeratul that he would listen to the Nerazim further... Remember when the Protoss was escaping from Aiur and scourges and other Zerg air units were filling its sky? I still remember how thrilled I was to see the Protoss air force hunting down fleeing Zerg air units while I was controlling the ground forces to reclaim Aiur. This was beyond just atmosphere, it was a nostalgia achieved by vengeance.

@@Michaentus It was kinda obvious. Once they see all Khalai possessed and all the Nerazim unaffected, doesn't take a genius to figure out it was the Khala that possessed them. Put two and two together and boom, remove the nerve chords. That and the fact that Amon kept repeating "WE ARE ONE IN THE KHALA HAHAHAHA HURR DURR KHALA KHALA KHALA" like a moron, was what made it obvious. They would have had a bigger standing force if Artanis listened. They'd have reactivated the Spear of Adun eventually, it's pretty hard to miss given the fact that it's the biggest fucking thing ever. But Zeratul was going to die, one way or another, seeing as his death was part of the prophecy.

@@B.Scruby the khalai vastly outnumber the nerazim, it would absolutely not be practical for the nerazim to go and slash all the khalai nerve chords. In a battle, the person who is trying to kill you has the advantage over the person whose only trying to slash one particular part of you. And the khalai under Amon's control would probably retrieve the spear of adun, and only a handful of nerazim + maybe some khalai they had rescued would escape from being completely surrounded by hostile warriors.

From a story telling perspective it seems obvious that Zeratul knew that the invasion would happen. The crazy old dark templar isn't stupid. He knows you don't stop an invasion by giving cryptic warnings mere seconds before an invasion starts. I am guessing Zeratul goal was to impress the danger of Amon into the mind of Artanis.

There are two ways to look at this: Look at how big capital ships like cruisers or carriers are in cutscenes and how small they are in the game. A single zealot using probably represents an entire company. Either that or you are only commanding a small part of the battle while the rest happens somewhere else.

I shall explain. The Zerg on Auir was being controlled by Hybrids. That’s why they had a plan of attacking your units (aka the Protoss). This is the reason why Kerrigan didn’t just remove all the Zerg from auir. The zerg on auir were feral, meaning they don’t follow the orders of Kerrigan. Amon and Narud knew that the Protoss were going to invade auir so they set up a trap. They used the Khala which connected all the Protoss’ minds with each other. Amon took over the minds of most Protoss and now they are under Amon’s control. Those who severed their nerve cords were left uncontrolled. Also Auir was invaded by the Zerg due to a civil war between the Templar and the dark Templar. The dark Templar rejected the light of the Khala and so they were deemed heretics by the Templar which started the civil war making Auir vulnerable to the Zerg invasion. Got that?

Also the zergs acts as a hive mind. They are controlled by a main “brain”. In starcraft 1, the cerelebrums were used to control the Zerg. Later, the queen of blades took over the hive mind as her own. If you were to severe the hive mind of the Zerg they just die like we see in Heart of the Swarm. The Dominion used a psi disruptor to severe the Zerg hive mind to kill the Zerg easily. Later we see the primal Zerg like Dehaka to destroy the psi disruptors for the zergs to get through.

Kasumi Ninja unlikely. It would be almost impossible to balance. The versitility alone of being able to choose from almost all buildings and units that amon had at his command would be rediculous, not to mention the fact that hybrids themselves would have to be so expensive to balance their power that they would probably never see play. Also, they already have protoss for their high cost/power low numbers race. Adding Amon would put protoss uncomfortably between hybrid and Terran.

An invasion doesn’t mean what you think it means. An invasion is any attack that opens up a new front, or in a sci-fi setting, a new planet. For example if nation A is only fighting nation B at one end of their border, if they attack at the other end it’s an invasion because it’s a separate front.
