Amon's Fall: Kerrigan Kills Xel'naga Amon (Starcraft 2 Epilogue | Void | Final Ending)

Sarah Kerrigan chased Amon through the Void, finding him on a platform shielded by void crystals and shadows of the Void. Kerrigan landed and established a beachhead with her Swarm, with Commander Jim Raynor and Hierarch Artanis following close behind. Kerrigan informed her allies that Amon was shrouded in a barrier of void energy that made him virtually invincible. However, the barrier could be taken down by destroying the void crystals that powered it. The zerg, terran, and protoss set up their bases and launched their final assault on Amon.
The void crystals that protected Amon would cycle over the platform at regular intervals, giving the three factions a chance to attack them. However, Amon would use void chasms to spawn more shadows of the Void, and use void shards to try and destroy any attacking forces. Kerrigan did not relent, and his shield slowly began to weaken.
Amon then began ripping the ground out from underneath the allies' mining bases, limiting the forces they could field. This did not deter them, and the three eventually destroyed all the crystals, leaving Amon vulnerable.
Kerrigan faced Amon, and he stated she was nothing but a pawn in the xel'naga's design. Kerrigan retorted that she cared nothing for the Infinite Cycle, and that she chose freedom for all life in her universe. She unleashed a blast that vaporized Amon. Raynor was enveloped in a white light, with Kerrigan's voice telling him to go.
Two years later, Raynor was sitting in Joeyray's Bar on Mar Sara. On the television, Kate Lockwell was reporting on the third anniversary of the fall of Arcturus Mengsk and the rise of Emperor Valerian Mengsk as ruler of the Terran Dominion, and that Admiral Matt Horner supported this new government along with the Dominion armed forces, as well as peace talks with the Daelaam. Raynor reflected how far he had come, looking at his badge, pictures of his Raiders, and thinking back to his conversations with Horner, Tychus Findlay and Dark Prelate Zeratul. Behind him, the door opened, and a human Kerrigan entered. She asked him if he was ready to go. Raynor smiled and replied, "Hell... It's about time."
Raynor was never seen again; his badge was recovered in Joeyray's Bar. Under Valerian, the Dominion entered a new era of reconstruction and peace. Zagara, new ruler of the Zerg Swarm, forcibly took control of Char and surrounding systems. Highlord Alarak refused to join the Daelaam on Aiur, and set out to find his own world for the Tal'darim, allowing any of his warriors who disagreed one chance to stay with the Daelaam. A mysterious bloom of life occurs on previously barren worlds, baffling Dominion scientists.

Not sure what kind of enemy they would have . . . Terrans: We're a pesky lot, so I'd assume the formation of rebels against the future "Dominion" or whatever it will be. Zerg: Don't think Zagara will go on a rampage, but she will be fairly cunning given that Kerrigan trained her. She'll probably take on a more "humanoid" appearance to perhaps honor the Queen. The Zerg may try a more "ambassadorial" approach to get more genetic material for their evolution (from both Protoss and Terran). Protoss: Their own society will probably be trying to survive after having their Khala removed. They'll probably have issues similar to the Terrans for a time (ie may or may not have issues with the Taldarim). Perhaps some enemy from another galaxy . . . or some "corrupted" version of the UED.

"(5) Some new Void shit emerges...." This is the closest one to what I think is a possibility. Basically Ulrezag returns, more dangerous than ever (if you keep clicking on the Dark Archon unit in LotV, they will eventually say that they fell Ulrezaj is till alive and they can feel his hatred within the void). In the Dark Templar Saga, we also learn that Ulrezaj himself is a servant or some greater power, and I believe it was confirmed in a panel that this greater power is NOT Amon. So we will have to deal I guess with another Amon-like being (though not necessarily a Xel'NAga). I will put some speculation that maybe this greater power can in fact be the being known as "The Voice in the Darkness" (I will just refer to as VitD), a being even the Xel'Naga feared and had sealed away. Of course, maybe the UED returns as well at the same time to put the sector in even more crap. My 2 cents.

I like to imagine what the terrans must have felt during this battle. The Zerg are just apex predators who will just listen, Protoss are used to the idea of physical gods, but the raiders are just some guys with guns who wanted to overthrow a government and are now fighting a giant space god. This ending is perfect for them. I actually don't want Blizzard to make Starcraft 3, because without those two it wouldn't be the same, and they are done, they deserve their rest. Also there is the fact that all other stories got wrapped up, there wouldn't be anything else to add unless they would add some 4th race or something, and it would sorta ruin this game I think.

And so, the great final showdown against an enemy the franchise has spent building up to since the very first game, which was incidentally one of the first video games i ever played... is breaking some crystals and then a cutscene of the villain getting killed. To say i was disappointed when i first played this is a gross understatement. And this happened twice! First his host body made from the carcass of the bloody Overmind and then his true Xel'Naga form! Easy as he was, even Narud put up more of a fight than Amon since you actually got to *fight* him.

As soon as he was on the top and had no one to answer to or serve, he started thinking for himself, and while he didn't abandon his peoples ways, he didn't worship tradition like his predecessors did. He also got rid of potential rebellious elements, sure, but that was just an added plus for his ultimate goal of preserving their way of life

It could be seen as that way but no, Kerrigan took physical form, think like Duran, and took Jim away. This makes sense since they took the "cliche" approach to storytelling with SC2, much different than it was with SC1

It is interesting how in SC1, the missions started out in the order of Terran, Zerg, Protoss, and in the expansion it was Protoss, Terran, then Zerg. Now we follow that exact same order in the SC2 expansions. We had WOL (Terran), HotS (Zerg), and LotV (Protoss), and in the epilogue we got Protoss, Terran, then Zerg missions all over again.

Kerrigan spent an entire campaign training a successor and then when she gets herself into a situation where she's prbly not gonna come back she doesn't bring her with her.... What could possibly be her motive here? Zagara will be a good leader of the Swarm. Vora'zun and Horner weren't here either. Same reason's. They're needed elsewhere.

Oh god, the fucking feels at the end. Especially if you've read Heaven's Devils. Seriously, it feels like the conclusion of something. Sarah is dead, Zeratul is dead, the Heaven's Devils are gone with Jim, the Protoss got rid of the Khala, Raynor disappeared from existence (good ending self tells me he joined Sarah, in a way), the Zerg got more peaceful thanks to Zagara, and the Dominion is getting shit done. Despite everything I have to say about the execution of the story on the SC2 campaign, this ending was fucking beautiful. I don't care what other people might say about cliché and all, I've GROWN UP with Starcraft. The ending just feels right - and the followups with Nova's Covert Ops are still enjoyable.

Kerrigan didn't train Zagara to keep the zerg in check. She trained her to effectively lead the zerg. Damned right they are a threat. However, the Terrans and Protoss now have unified leadership too and reasonably good relations. If the Zerg become too much of a problem, they would likely ally and handle it. That is why Zagara is so important. Kerrigan trained her to be smart enough to remain zerg yet not be so mindlessly aggressive that they get exterminated.

Man you problably don't remember leaving this comment here, anyway i just finished the epilogue after i got the game ( i played it before in 2016-2020) but i lost the account and i never finished the epilogue , and i got to say this is the best game ever , i have been playing all kinds of games and most of them are just not fun anymore or they are to repetitive or to boring with huge bad updates but playing starcraft and almost finishing it in 15 days exept 1 mission and half of nova , it is just crazy , playing starcraft after a long time made me realize how bad the oder games we're all this time. "far greater power/ the cycle" are specifically mentioned I think. It was scary because Samir basically played a lot of sides and created a lot of conflicts in BW and then you realise he was doing his own thing with the hybrids in secret at the orders of someone else..so the greater power he was serving was likely darker/more powerful and you didn't know what they wanted with the hybrids/conflicts being created (i.e. it was more mysterious/scary not knowing, as well as having an air of "mastermind" type foe). EDIT: we also got hints that the overmind was bound by this higher power...and was created ages ago.

It's so good that they had that happy ending but I can't stop thinking how Tassadar, Fenix, Zeratul and even Tychus don't get one as well. If only the last 3 were honored more.

I know this comment is a year old, but I just had to reply. Tassadar was as honoured as one could be, given his sacrifice was known by all Protoss when he destroyed the Overmind, losing his life in the process. "En taro Tassadar" became the new saying amongst the Protoss. On top of that, Tassadar was actually a Xel'Naga and gave the last of his powers to Kerrigan so she could defeat Amon. Fenix's machine clone didn't need honouring, as the REAL Fenix was already honoured in death during the original games. His clone went and lived with the other machines (can't remember the name) as that was his place and they asked for him to be there. Zeratul was completely honoured by Artanis and all Protoss when they learned the truth about Amon and the Khala. All Protoss everywhere knew what he did and the sacrifice he made to free them. Artanis even wore his armband saber to honour his fallen brother. Tychus didn't need honouring. It was made clear at the end of Wings of Liberty that Tychus had made his own choice, which was to kill Kerrigan in exchange for his freedom. Jim respected his choice but obviously went against him and killed Tychus to stop him from doing just that. Ultimately there wasn't anything else to be done that could be shown to the players. I'm sure Tassadar and Zeratul got nice statues or something for remembrance.

@@H3llf1re33 All correct except 1 thing. Tassadar was never a Xel'Naga. Ouros the last alive Xel'Naga just used Tassadar's voice/appearance to make sure that Zeratul and Artanis would heed his voice. He even said it to Artanis. He used his old master's voice so that it would be easier for him to convince them to take the action.
