I was there. I witnessed this live. And i remember being so overwhelmed by the beauty of it all. I would make the 5 hours trip to Boston again just to hear this again for the first time. Looking back, she was going thru it. I felt her pain. It gave us clues what was about to come with her divorce and stuff. Long live Kelly

I have never gotten through this song without tears streaming and I love that Kelly couldn’t either. It takes a true gift of a writer to literally produce this kind of emotion from music. Patty is my all time favorite writer and artist. I wonder if she has denied bigger contracts in the industry bc it makes no sense that she’s not more famous but I could imagine her wanting to stay more indie/ less famous. She’s such a badass. Omg I love her so much! ❤❤❤❤

I am a fan of Kelly Clarkson and I am just learning about Patty Griffin. I listened to her latest album and I was right when I thought her earlier voice would sound smoother. I looked up the earliest record I could find and sure enough she did sound better to me. Patty is a great song writer. She is one of the best i have ever heard.

Patty went through cancer treatment before the album you speak of. I can tell you from personal experience that chemo and radiation therapy makes a huge difference. Patty is brilliantly talented and still sounds amazing.
