Some of these male vocalists are absolutely incredible, but it’s understandable she can sing higher than them. Hard songs for a male tenor are usually easy for a female soprano. But it’s no surprise she out sings everyone. She’s been exceptional since American Idol and has somehow gotten even more skilled.

She’s not just singing them higher, her runs and sustained belts are impressive. Also, sustaining an F#5 like she does in so many of these is difficult AF, even for professional musicians. Her range is insane. A lot of the originals is something a large group of people can easily sing along to, while doing that to Kelly Clarkson is much less so 😅

First off, kudos to all the artists she covers here. They highlight that it isn’t just the power or range in your voice that makes a song compelling or awesome. I love hearing all the unique character and timbre in each of their voices. I appreciate all the originals. Kelly (and her band) is the absolute best I have ever heard at doing covers. She always seems to be able to both honour the original AND make it her own. A lot of people totally re do a song when they cover it - speed it up, slow it down, change the genre altogether, etc. Kelly can sing in any genre believably. Her belting is INSANE. Her mastery over her own voice, her agility, her ability to add texture effortlessly …. I mean …. it’s just a privilege and a joy to hear her cover as many artists as she does. What an outstanding talent both as a vocalist and as an artist.
