Blocking off the Evap line you may get a vapor lock as the gas is used. Remember as the fuel drops, Air needs to replace the space, the gas tank needs to breathe.

No. There’s a atmospheric vent in the gas cap.

Attention to detail as in using burned parts again?
@fernandomoreno16214 күн бұрын
@@jls.mp4 Sometimes you have to adapt, improvise, and overcome. These parts have no safety implications and they have been restored to look as good as new. Every project has a budget, but it will be nice to replace every single part that is not perfect or new.

I’ve removed evap on my Ducati and I left the throttle body hose connected just capped it no issues,as for the other hose I left that connected and uncapped ,that’s a vent. I would run a hose for the gas over flow I would think if that dried up and fell apart you could have another fire. Great job on this bike

@figifister4 күн бұрын
Hey buddy, you need to connect a hose for both of the vent and over flow. You simply run a hose for each and snake it down along the engine going on the right side or clutch side. There is a factory bracket that groups these two hoses together and routes them under the bike. The tank needs to be able to expand and contract

That scripture reference was a good one! I used it for my own studies this morning, so thanks for that. This build is awesome and I look forward to each episode. Car rebuilds are fun too, but your motorcycle builds are really well done. I am not a "Hey can I buy that bike" type, so when I ask if you will be keeping this one, it is just out of curiosity because it is such a unique motorcycle. THANKS AGAIN!
@Lucas-3515 күн бұрын
Hey CJ good to see this project getting along. I think you may have issue with pressure building up in the gas tank if you block the evap system, on a hot day with an hot bike the fume inside the gas tank need to be extracted. Look it up, the bike will run but after a long ride you should notice it. Good luck on your projects 🙏
@andrewberesford47774 күн бұрын
You definitely need a bench grinder with wire wheel on one side and red scotchbrite wheel on the other. Makes cleaning brackets and bolts lot easier. It’s a game changer

The best way to understand how to get rid of the evap, is to look at how the factory did it for the non Cal models. The only issue is proper venting, you have to have the tank vent to atmosphere. Also if there is an electronic valve system, you may get a warning light if it is not connected, a flash usually has a facility to delete the warning.

why would you block the fuel overflow? Not considering that a simple plastic plug will be melted right away anyway and leak fuel on a potentially hot engine, the system is there for a reason. Recycle a fuel resistant line and run it to the bottom of the bike. EVAP I believe you can safely remove as it just recirculates air to the airbox
@frankherold4745 күн бұрын
The one on the tank is NOT an overflow, but the petrol gases are carried away with it. You can NOT wear it out. The hose goes into the antechamber and then to one of the carburetors. Look CLOSELY. It's like a car. P.S. Greetings from Germany

Your vids were an inspiration to me, I'm currently on build #2, a first gen Streetfighter frame up. The first was an 848 Evo frame up which is also registered with a rebuilt title. One thing though, It seems that MV parts seem to be on par or at least a little worse than Ducati as far as delivery time and price.

Don’t forget the rubber around the fuel line going into the air box?! The connections on the tank which you capped off using the blue caps are not for the evap system. They’re most likely a drain for around the fuel cap and a connection to prevent vacuum in the tank. Caping of the vacuum one can cause a world of pain,

Very nice work! Only one small complaint from an Aprilia long time owner, 10w40 in the RSV4 factory from 2021 and after is the wrong oil! From the factory the recommended one is the 10w50, but for heavy track usage and in maybe very hot ambient temperature 10w60 is even better! 10w40 is WAAAAY too thin for that engine in hot conditions
