I know these are pretty old Videos. But for this bike there are almost no maintenance or repairs videos available. Just wanted to thank you for your time and service to Gsx 650f owners. Though I don't think you'll ever see this. Thank you again from across the pond.

For those of you who are just wanting to replace the chain alone, break the old chain and use something to link the new chain with the old, spin it around until you have the new chain on and secure it. Takes less time and keeps everything the way it was if you don't have all the proper tools.

make sure you take a picture of the gear change selector rod at the position you took it off! I put mine on the wrong angle and couldn't select the gears properly. Lesson learnt!. Great video as always matey.

Bloody hell mate your were not wrong about that sprocket nut being tight, I spent about 3 hours trying to get if off on my own, I think my breaker bar looked more likely to snap than for the nut to undo. Got if off this morning it took a 1 inch drive breaker bar with a heavy trolley jack handle used over the handle for extra leverage.

Nice job, but next time I recommend cleaning up front sprocket area from old fat and dirt, preferably with a brake cleaner and compressed air.

Nah, just give it a soak with some kerosene, scrape all the crap off and jam a pressure washer on it.

Hi there I'm finding your videos interesting as iv just bought a 2012 bike same as yours.. My question is have you ever change your head light bulbs as I would like to put LED.s in the 2 small driving lights ?
@CJMPH
@CJMPH 6 жыл бұрын
Ahhhh, found your original question now :) Hopefully I've sort of answered that with my reply to your other comment... I haven't changed my bulbs yet but they defiantly need to replaced as the standard ones just aren't bright enough in my opinion. I believe you just need to add load resisters when changing the bulbs to LED ones... I am going to try and replace mine to the Philips one I mentioned in the other comment, so I will record myself doing that of course... Thanks for commenting and hope you enjoy the bike, they are awesome as I'm sure you know

These questions are for anyone... I just bought a low mile, 2008 GSX650F. What is the difference if I go with a one tooth less sprocket up front, and less teeth in the sprocket in the back, versus if I went with a one tooth less front sprocket, and a rear sprocket with more teeth? Versus going with a one tooth less front sprocket, but use the OEM rear sprocket? Versus just using a rear sprocket with less teeth, and not touching the front sprocket? How would these all compare? It's so confusing lol. I hear that a lot of people like going with a front sprocket with one less tooth, and a rear sprocket with more teeth? Any help with this would be great! Thanks guys 👍

made a start to this today, but as I thought would be the case, I didn't have a socket big enough for the front sprocket , do you remember what size it was ? my mate will probably have one in his collection.
@CJMPH
@CJMPH 4 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, sorry I cant remember which size that was.. I listed these sizes in the description "10, 14, 22, 27 and 32mm Socket" so guessing its the 32mm but it was so long ago and pretty sure I had to borrow that one too :)

Good video, the pace is bang-on. What did you use to break/rivet the chain? Looks like a DID KM500, any info would be good. Especially if it's not that one (as it's over £100).
@CJMPH
@CJMPH 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I actually borrowed the tool from a car mechanic mate as I couldn't justify buying one either as they are expensive. I'm not sure of the exact one I used but it does look like that - but I imagine they all similar :) Sorry I cant be of more help

@@CJMPH Cheers for the reply, much appreciated :) I ended up getting a £20 chain breaker and riveting tool off e bay and it was bang on. However, I did completely flatten the head off the rivet with an angle grinder before pushing it through to split the chain and took my time when joining the new one. Vernier calipers are essential too.

Hi. Great video! But I only want to change my front sprocket (from a 15 tooth to a 17 tooth) the bike has hardly done any miles and the chain & rear sprocket are fine. Question. Do you think that by slackening off the chain by the rear wheel it will allow the chain to disengage/reengage the front sprocket without having to break the chain?
@Xenro66
@Xenro66 2 жыл бұрын
I'd like to do the same to mine as well, 1 tooth on the front just to calm the revs in 6th a bit at cruise. I haven't attempted myself by my set are fairly new, or at least my standard for "worn" is different lol. Still, if you've tried this and you only slacked the back wheel, let me know. You'll save me a tonne of effort 😅
