the ability run away should be improved by having use in a trainer battle. picture this: (you are fighting a Watchog with a Sentret. your sentret is nearly defeated so you hold out your pokeball.) You: Sentret, return! opponent: Watchog, mean look! (Watchog uses mean look and prevents escape) Opponent: hah! you can't run now! you: hah! that's why i used Sentret! Sentret, rest up! (Sentret returns.) Opponent: WHAT? but how? You: remember? Run Away got a buff?

Hustle is actually amazing on pokemon that can learn hone claws. Namely, durant. Durant has a special niche in competetive play with this ability, as he can easily set up his hone claws thanks to his great defenses. He also has pretty nice typing in my opinion, as bug checks a lot of popular threats while steal resists half of the meta. Defeatist I totally agree with you about. I love archeops because it is sooooooo good! ...until it drops below half health. They need to give him a hidden ability to replace that. Color change is bad but I can come up with some interesting ways you can use it to out-predict your opponent, so I think it could be replaced with something else that is actually useless or just more hindering. Maybe the starter abilities? They aren't that good, but I guess they have some use so I don't know...

Smaks I never said slaking was bad. I actually enjoy slaking. But Truant ruins him because he can't move every other turn, which is huge, because it provides free setup for faster physical and special sweepers, Such as Mewtwo and Blaziken. He also lacks his full sweeping potential because of Truant, so he can't take down a whole team by himself, and with his fragility to special attacks, He can definitely be taken down. It's also a shame that Durant gets this as a Hidden Ability. I'm sorry, but Truant is the WORST of the Worst.

The fact alone that your forced to switch out every single attack makes you setup bait. Despite Slaking's monstrous stats, he's always gonna end up costing the team because he has to switch out, and that allows a Swords dance or whatever kind of setup move you want. At the very least Archeops can work around Defeatist with Roost. But Slaking relies on Yamask and Cofagrigus to get rid of it's horrid ability.

+Garrett Preston Color change doesn't allow you to change the pokemon's type. That's done by your opponent and can be set up making it easier for them to defeat you. They could use Brick Break against a normal type, and then either a flying, psychic, or fairy type move to do another super effective move against you and you may not have a STAB move putting you at even more of a disadvantage. With Protean YOU get to make the call. You tell your pokemon what type you want them to be by using one of your moves and I believe they become that type immediately giving them a STAB and could make the opponent use a move that would've been super effective, into one that's either not very effective or doesn't effect them at all. Too long, didn't read: The difference is control. Protean let's you control your pokemon's type while Color change let's your opponent do it.

Hustle has long been considered a godly ability. Hustle is one of the reasons why Corsola needs an evo. Never was a big sweeper user, but I primarily played Gen IV, so that might be why.

That's your list not mine. We play things differently and view things differently. In battles I don't want to rely on swapping abilities with my opponent in order to hinder them or go last to increase the damage I could give them. I prefer to sweep my opponents and these abilities greatly hinder that. After all this is just a personal list not an official one. It's not like I don't know how they could work, it's just that I'd rather have far better ones. EX: Togekiss with Hustle or Serene Grace?

There is only one reason why I put Defeatist higher on my list than truant. While truant doesn't let you attack every turn it also doesn't hinder any of your stats. Plus I guess you could use those scarfs that let you move faster or make your attacks stronger and I think you won't be limited to that attack by I'm not sure.

Thankfully in gen 6 you can get an item that allows you to change abilities of a pokemon if they have two abilities (not including hidden abilities) so a good many abilities listed here can be swapped for something else.

Are Magic Guard and Drizzle DHMs? Magic Guard is great in the competitive scene and Drizzle works for all water-types and Pokémon that know Thunder or Hurricane.

turant durant is awsome in battle subway/masion. use entertainment to give your opponent turant, then buff when it's doing nothing and protect on it's attacking turn, then sweep.

Normalize is a great ability. It can hit Pokemon with movies that you normally can't get hit by, like using Thunder Wave on a ground type Pokemon to paralyze them or earthquake on a Flying type to do a lot of damage

True, that's ONE good thing about it, but you're better off using a super-effective move on a Flying type, or not paralyzing the opponent and taking it out. When you consider that there are a lot of more useful options out there, Normalize just seems useless.

Uhh... pressure makes the opponent use twice the amount of PP for a move. For example if you use Fire Blast 5/5 PP one time against say a Mewtwo with pressure then the attack now has 3/5 PP left.

About Number four: Isn't it usefull if you have that fighting move which makes you concentrate and attack at ten end of teh turn? thus you would be sure to have a) the move come through and b) you could potentially raise another Stat (Def/Special Def) if you are last anyway. Also, there is an attack that turns around the speed of pokemon ( slowest attacks first, fastest last) maybe this will also affect stall?

At least Sableye has one of my favorite Dream world abilities, and since hes one of my favorite dark types and my favorite ghost type, he is the perfect saboteur for my team, using toxic and weakening foes before i send out a pokemon like Gengar and use Venoshock

I am sure people have mentioned this before but I wanted to make sure. Color change is an interesting ability if you are able to survive the hit and heal. In a play through setting it can make Kecleon a pretty good support tank with the fact that most same type match ups deal neutral to minimal damage. IE: Get hit by a rock attack, hyper potion back up and be resistant to further rock attacks.

Eh, hypothetically speaking: I think Klutz can be a very powerful ability if used correctly. For example, you could use it to smuggle in an extra item for a partner in double battles. Use trick or another item switching move on your partner and you effectively have two held items you can switch between, or an extra Berry to heal in reserve.

Some abilities that I want to see would be an ability that freezes your Pokemon on contact unless you have Magma Armor or Flame Body, an ability that confuses you on contact unless you have Own Tempo and an ability that prevents from getting cursed.

Run Away is actually useful if you get stuck by some annoying Pokemon, Klutz can be useful for switching an unwanted item during battle that'll affect the opponent, Truant can be shut down by Gastro Acid or if Slaking hits a Cofagrigus since it's ability will change to Mummy.

Klutz is used in gimmick builds that use Trick or Fling. Having an Iron Ball on Lopunny and Tricking it onto a sweeper is PRETTY GOOD. You get to effectively perma-cripple one of their pokemons' speed stats at almost no cost.

That was one I said before, but with using Lopunny in a double battle would have no need for an item, so if your swellow had a quick claw etc, it could use that, then have toxic switched onto it at the end of the turn, you could use Swellow+protect+toxic orb in a single battle also.

Klutz can be quite useful if you have Switcheroo. Because Klutz doesn't let your Pokemon gain any effect from a held item, you can swap your Flame/Toxic Orb with your opponent's Choice Item, leaving them with a crippling status effect and not be stuck being able to only choose one move.

Depends. Most people have some kind of berry that powers down a super effective attack. So if you use an electric attack on a flying type with a berry that powers down electric attacks, it's a pretty good counter (given it's only on galvantula and it's pre-evolved form)

a) You mean Focus Punch. And no. The concentration of Focus Punch has a way higher priority so it will always concentrate at the beggining of the turn, no matter the ability. b) Yeah, you could, but you can also do it without the ability, and you can raise your def/SDef before the attack. c) Trick Room. It turns around the speed, but the thing is that your pkmn will ALWAYS move last, doesn't have anything to do with speed. Although I agree with you. Being last sometimes is better.

It is a bad ability cause of this example: Let's say it is Kecleon vs Whishcash. Whishcash uses a ground move and Kecleon turns to a ground type. Then Whishcash uses a Water Move and that move is a super effective hit then cause Water beats ground. See what I'm getting at? Your opponent can set up on you my using an attack that makes you weak to another attack

Only useful application: taking out Tate & Liza in gen 3. They'll only use psychic type moves and you catch Kechleon with faint attack. They have high sp. def. so I literally catch one and go to Mossdeep.

Color Change is bad because an enemy pokemon may know multiple type moves. like empoleon can know grass knot which after hitting Kecleon with a a water move grass knot would be super effective. or gengar could use sludge bomb than psychic.

Durant gets the move Entrainment, which basically gives your ability to your opponent, like Truant for example. there have been abilities in Gen 6 and 7 that were pretty bad, but you know this was uploaded almost 7 years ago.

Speed boost may be a sweet ability but it seems kind of wasted on Ninjask. Ninjask's base speed is higher than every other Pokemon except for Deoxys in it's speed form so having speed boost as its ability is unnecessary since it outspeeds everything anyway.

How to use a pokemon with Stall: Train it to lvl 100 with items that promotes other stats, but lowers speed. You can also teach it moves like Counter or Revenge, and let it hold an item that increase accuracy, if the user moves last.

Durant has the move Entrainment, which gives the user's ability to the foe. So basically, if Durant has Truant, you use Entrainment on the opposing pokemon, then switch Durant out for another Pokemon (preferably switch to one with Shadow Tag, so that the opponent is basically stuck with their Truant pokemon). Quite fun to do :)

No offense, but a pokemon with Klutz like say Lopunny, can actually make decent use of it. Because of the effect, you might not get the speed boost, but you won't get locked into one move with a choice scarf. This can surprise an opponent, as in the middle of everything, you can Trick it onto someone, like a wall or a Set up pokemon, and completly ruin their strategy.

4:17 slow start isn't that bad sure it makes hyper 80 damage lowers youre already slow speed but if you put regigigas into a pokemon modifier you can give him any ability you want
