"Meet in front of Big Lou's fighting on the street".....that line was immortalized on They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.), one of the greatest hip-hop songs ever created by Pete Rock & CL Smooth! For the first time ever, CL Smooth explains how Trouble T-Roy and himself had a very serious beef over a woman's affection in Mount Vernon, and that Trouble T-Roy wanted to hurt CL Smooth very badly, to the point that he wanted to kill him in the street! This resulted in an all day fist fight between CL Smooth and Trouble T-Roy that went up and down the block by Big Lou's in Mount Vernon! The fight shook the hood to the point that Heavy D had to scoop both of them up in his truck after the brawl and set them straight, showing Heavy D to be the true Godfather of Mount Vernon! This meeting lead to them becoming brothers and family, resulting in the great tribute song following his death! This is a must listen for any fan of CL Smooth! Never heard before story!

That's no opinion, What you stated was a FACT. Emcee Hev D is Hip Hop's most slept on and that crap really ticks me off. Hev is about the only MC that can rock a mic without vulgarity. I'm a huge fan of hardcore and gangsta rap that being said I prefer some vulgarity here and there. But Hev stuff was just as raw without all that. RIP to the Legendary Emcee Hev D.

@Powerule23
@Powerule23 6 жыл бұрын
To say "no guns" is a stretch. We had a few guns in BK back in the 80's. Basically, one gun in a crew of say 10 people. Today, there are far more guns by virtue of southern distribution along the blackmarket. TRUE STORY: In 1982, it took me about six months to buy a .38 Smith & Wesson that had a broken firing pin. In other words, I spent money on a gun that couldn't do anything but back someone off on a verbal threat. (It was all I could get my hands on). Today, if you want a gun in NYC, the only thing stopping you is money because the supply source is present. There was no CONSISTENT supply chain for guns in NYC in the early 80's. That being said, what few guns we had back then were actually being used proactively. We had a massive murder and robbery rate in the mid-80's due to unemployment, poverty, and post 60's racism. Today, dudes keep their guns at home, largely due to stop & frisk. "Fair ones" still exist, but not like back in the day when we practiced slap boxing on a regular to keep our hands proper. Today, dudes still squabble, but not quite the way personal beef was once settled. Today, dudes don't mix it up like back in the day, because almost everyone has an accessible gun that they can stand behind. It's simply a different world. Back in the day, the roughest dudes in the 'hood were nice with their hands; today, they claim to be shooters.

💯 It seems like people had real, genuine friends back in the day. No one ever tries to stop beef today; most allow it to escalate and record it with cell phones for entertainment. Now, majority of friendships are fake and people only gravitate to each other for what they think they can gain. Also, People will turn on you according to what opportunities they think they can get. 🙁

GREAT STORY! I saw Heavy D and the Boyz at The Star Palace in Youngstown, OH when they were only performing “Mr. Big Stuff” and maybe “Chunky But Funky”. After the shows, my cousins and I would go to the tour buses in the back, HEAVY was always kind to the fans, signing autographs, taking pictures with my older girl cousins.
