I love that Claire is so honest that she can go... It's not that bad. Like hers OF COURSE is better, but she still respects other recipes. No drama, just baking and that's what I love.

yesss, it annoys me to see all those holier-than-thou chefs who pretend like they are going to die from eating a piece of junk food. It's also what I liked about the OG Bon Appetite crew, they were happy to admit they love doritos, etc. We are all human.

Claire is honestly beautiful how soothing, easy going yet structured, calculated and delicious your baking is. I agree with the other comments above that mention how laid back you are while baking, no holier-than-thou attitude, just honest, heart felt baking. Thank you for all the evenings I fell asleep listening to you bake on this channel and your old bon appetite videos. As much as I miss your gourmet makes, I’d love to see you do at home versions of other things as well. 🥰 Keep on baking Claire

The Domino's chocolate lava crunch cakes are honestly surprisingly good. Dare I say it's the best dessert at any fast casual food place? (When they don't come broken that is.)

Honestly, the Dominos pizza version of this cake is actually delicious. The outside is crispy & delicious. The chocolate goo is sweet, chocolaty & so good. I love them haha Definitely will try out yours, too though. It looks great :)

I've been eating eggs from my grandma's farm my whole life and they are super vibrant in color due to the food chickens eat. Store bought eggs are produced by chickens from huge farms who eat concentrate and are in tight spaces which cannot compare to fresh grass and non-stressed life our chickens lead!

Used to work at Dominos. I used to cut up the uncooked lava cakes and put them in icecream :P once they are room temp the inside is gooy even if its not 'hot' The batter that becomes the cake is definitely different than the filling.

I made them today : they cooked for 8 minutes in ramekins and I didn't have enough eggs so I used 3 egg yolks instead of 6. They turned out perfect ! This is going to be my go to recipe for molten lava cake.

Claire, I'm curious to know from the point of view of a professional baker (I have just basic home experience) what you would say about this method vs the "frozen ganache" center method? Is there a concern about the uncooked batter center with the eggs and little bit of flour? if I made this for guests and they asked me about it I wouldn't be sure what to tell them. Thanks! :) This looks delicious!

If you're concerned about salmonella you could use pasteurized eggs. The CDC estimates that 1 in 20,000 eggs has salmonella if that helps your risk calculation.

I would like to bake a single "giant" lava cake for a birthday. I would make a dome shaped cake with the two quart pan I have. I noticed in the video that the recipe makes 4 cups of batter. I am wondering how it would work to multiply the recipe by 1.5 to get 6 cups of batter. Would this recipe work for a "giant" lava cake, or should the recipe be modified? Also, I would use safflower oil rather than olive oil because we prefer that oil for health reasons. There are recipes for "giant" lava cakes online, but I prefer Claire's recipe for two reasons: the flour is fully mixed in which appears to result in smooth chocolate lava and we like using oil rather than butter. I note that other "giant" lave cakes take about 50 to 60 minutes to cook.
