Hey Paul: Always nice to see a new video from you. A hymn in the English Hymnal, “In the Bleak Mid-Winter” certainly describes the countryside in winter. You should be here 😉 and we’ll have it for the next three months or so. My favourite seafood is shell fish so I was intrigued and happy to see you collecting them. Oysters in Toronto have to be imported and cost an average of $3 (1 pound 70) per oyster and come from all over North America’s Atlantic coast. You saved a fortune by foraging your own. I eat clams every which way from throwing a couple dozen raw into an Italian sauce, clams Casino, raw clams and perhaps my favourite, fried clams just the way you made them. As a southern friend once said to me “Ah jes lufs a feed of frahd clams!.” And so do I👍🏻. Thanks for sharing your day with us mate. Cheers, Colin.
@shorefishingessex3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Colin I always enjoy reading your comments, I'm glad we don't get harsh Winters that last for months, we only get a taste of the really bad stuff occasionally in the South of England, it's normally just damp & grey in Winter! I plan to do more foraging before the year warms up, all the best my friend, Paul.

@@shorefishingessex I love oysters but prefer them baked Chinese style, my local restaurant won't give me the recipe though. At a pound an oyster up here, they are no longer a "poor man's meal". I do a tasty beef and oyster pie, with a minimum 12 oysters it's an expensive meal.

Stephen thanks, I would rather go to Walton Pier for a day's fishing if I was coming from Beds, there's some decent fishing to be had from Southend Pier but there's so many factors against you, like the tackle hungry snags, the bait robbing crabs, the ferocious tides, the lack of space at the head of the pier, the parking charges in Southend, the disappearance of plaice, flounder, codling, I could go on & on!! On the plus side, last year smooth hound were caught in numbers for the first time in years & bass seem to be more common than ever!

Good Video. Don't make too many as I am still trying to catch up with your earlier ones. As a side note, have you tried fixing a small piece of foam over the mic / mic aperture.
