Good video. Clamber has been a hot seller for sure. Where it shines is really not casting distance, which it did fairly well per your tests... but ease of casting and accuracy in short range creek/stream situations.

Nice.. and thanks for the shout out... I've never been impressed with ceramic bearings or micro.. even in RC (remote control) cars.. the original black knight is a loud casting out of control reel also.. hoping I like my BNII it should be here next week it's about 2 weeks late and coming with the LingL.. You mentioned switching out the BNII bearings but I plan on just adding oil if I don't like the way they perform.. I also have a plan on adding a magnet or two if the brakes are to light for my taste.. Anyway keep up the good work and thanks again for the plug... I plan on spending the winter testing out UL and Light rods this winter.. mainly AliExpress ones but maybe a few local.. trying to find a few creek rods and mainly a L or ML that is just a touch stiffer than the kuying Teton 661 which I can't find listed anymore but the 662 should be the same and I don't know if you've handled one or not but in my opinion the Teton 661 or 2 is the best all around bfs rod I've used so far . It can cast down to a 1/6oz up to a 1/4oz no problem anyway I also just caught my personal best Bass on that rod with the pw100 which is still my favorite AliExpress reel .. check that video out...

I have those rods and have fell in love with the kyuing rods . I have 2 of the 6.6 light one spinning one bfs . I have a ace hawk ultra lite , I have the kyuing tournament series in 7 ft mh/ hvy 2 tip , and I just got the kyuing rainforest med light 6.10 and put one of my zephyr’s on it with kastking 13x braid in 10lb and 8 lb flouro leader and this will be my ned rig rod .Very sensitve and is stiffer than the teton .

@@okish02 try the rosewood 2.1m light elf double tip. I just got one and it's so nice super thin butt diameter but not a 1.0mm tip it's 1.6 so it has some backbone and can actually cast but still super sensitive for trout etc. It's actually labeled as a carp rod on aliexpress but it's really finesse. I think it's pure carbon.

Thanks for saving me some money. Years ago I did a bunch of tests on ceramic bearings for standard baitcasters and found there was no improvement in casting distance with either lighter or heavier lures. They are easy to market because they make a big difference in spool spin times with the reel off the rod but that just doesn't translate into better casting distance. I had thought there could possibly be a difference when casting ultralight lures but am not surprised with your results.

I think it will depend on the reel honestly. I did get about an extra 10 feet with my Casitas with cheap hybrid ceramics.

@@THEREELTEST Clamber hyper micro. I am going to test cleaning out the stock bearings in acetone and then lubing it with ZPI oil first...get some water time....then swap out the ZPI bearings so I can have a better feel for difference

@@THEREELTEST Just off of my unscientific test, the ZPI SIC bearings vs cleaned and oiled stock bearings were night and day difference. The ZPI bearings just made the reel feel very very different in a really good way. I am able to back out on the brakes, and get much better distance without ending up with a mess. Flip casts (even done aggressively) are buttery smooth. I think 2g is the lowest I can go if I want to be accuratte at present but I will chalk that up to my skill (or lack thereof). I don't know how you cast 1g lures with this....I tried 1.2 and it was not happening.

@@AT-eq8kc The rod is going to be huge in casting 1 gram. But dont worry, Ive been BFSing for about 10 years. I was constantly having problems at first until I figured things out by experimenting with settings and different rods.

@@THEREELTEST Thanks for the tip!!! Jimmy was suggesting feathering the spool so I am going to try that. now that you mentioned the rod as another potential intervention...I might get the ares and see if it gets better. I am using a cheap(ish) super flexy 4'2" chinese glass rod right now that is so fun to cast and really accurate out to maybe 40' which is about as long as I will need for most trout fishing cases - side arm, backhand and flick cast (shorter with this)...all really accurate.....its when i dip below 1.5grams when my birdsnest nightmares from my first week came back with a vengeance. My current rod is very soft with a 6:4 flex profile. If I were to try different rods, do I go more/less tip flex, and stiffer/softer? Sorry with the endless questions....there are so few English language experts out there right now.

In my estimation, it appears that the higher dollar Daiwa reels seldom compete with the less expensive Chinese knock offs. What’s up with that?
@THEREELTEST2 жыл бұрын
because they are too stubborn to realize the "air brake" rotor is NOT needed, especially for high dollar reels.
