Thank You from Québec, Canada. Thank you Sage for being such a great teacher, taking the time to make the tutorial and sharing your experience. Everyone around the world benefits from it . I manage to make a beautiful baby book and a clamshell box for my daughter and my grandson. The result is amazing.

I've learned a lot from your videos, especially in terms of English language terminology. When I was in school we mostly used German and Serbocroatian terminology. Many thanks!

I have been following along so I’m almost finished with my 2 boxes. I started with the perfect bound bookbinding tutorials to bind a memorial book for each of the two young grandchildren of a friend. I made paste papers using your paste paper videos for the book’s end papers and for the box’s lining papers. I appreciate your calm, precise language and economy of movement with only the sounds of the tools engaging with the materials as you work. Excellent tutorials, much appreciation and gratitude. Oh, and I notice you wear a sage colored sweater in your videos, nice touch. ; )

Thank you so much for these tutorials. So helpful. After watching them all through (more than once) I made a very successful and, even though I say it myself, beautiful clamshell box for a wedding album, which I could not have made without these; so clear and concise. Now I want a guillotine like that - I had to use a scalpel. Oh and a book press - I used books to do the pressing. And a studio...

Thank you for this wonderful series. It has been a pleasure watching a true craftsman at work. Between the clamshell videos and the book making videos, I feel like a kid at Christmas. I hope that you continue to make videos, so this wonderful art is not lost.

The skills required here would suit anyone who has a good eye for detail such as a Bookbinder or a master Decorator (or both) who can construct, mitre and splice. Good job!

Thank you Sage for such an informative and thorough series - I just finished my first clamshell box and it turned out much better than I expected - I was worried about how well the book would fit and how well it would close, and thanks to your great step by step instruction, my book fits and closes perfectly! Thanks again!

You can use any paper backed book cloth. I am probably using Canapetta which is a durable and attractive book cloth.( available from Talas online) For large boxes that will get wear, avoid Iris because it scars easily. The Japanese bookcloths are very good too. Skivertex works well and you can even use some wall coverings and grass cloth though they tend to be a bit stiff and brittle.

Thank you for your video. They are rare and perfect. I want to ask if it would be possible to show how to properly trim the book by stapling (not glued). If the cutter wedges drawn somehow to get deformed spine of the book. Many thanks also for others.

Dividers in this type box aren't often successful. I would suggest that you make a nesting box or tray to be a removable insert of the size you need. That way you have a sturdy, finished divider and a way to lift the contents out of the main box. Thanks for watching. Thanks for watching.
