Lots of problems and I admire your perseverance . Nice to see Skye again, even if she's grumpy. Best wishes.

The bulkhead looks amazing considering how rusty it once was, you must get a great feeling of satisfaction when you stand back and look at what you have accomplished so far.

With the benefit of hindsight, there are a few dimensions I wish I knew before welding up the bulkhead- sadly they are showing up now. At £1500, it was just a big chunk of money I didn’t have and I’m not convinced a new one would prevent the issues I’m finding

That will never rust, peace of mind at least, component level work seems to take forever Mat. Great job, and thanks for sharing.

Thanks for stopping by. I’ve had a frustrating day trying to move forward but after a few hours I remain stationary with the process

If you fancy a woodworking project, you could encourage the treecreepers: "They build cup nests on loose twig platforms wedged behind patches of bark on tree trunks. (They will also use special nest boxes clamped to tree trunks and made with two openings; the birds use one as an entrance and one as an exit.)" (Wikipedia)

That’s a good idea. There are quite a few tree creepers around my place as there’s a good few mature trees in the area.

Jeez Mat the challenges never end for you mate and you haven't even turned a wheel on it yet 😂 I just hope by the time you get it on the road you don't hate the sight of it 😉

I was cursing the project today, having reached the point of utter frustration! Will see how it looks tomorrow after a nights sleep

The three fan wires and resistor are for fan speeds. Brown should be ground/earth, the lead through the resistor is low and the direct lead is high. The resistor is located in the duct to provide a cooling airstream. On the plumbing side of things, ddo you have an inline valve to vary the heater temp? Otherwise it will be pumping out heat the same in December and July...

The 200 tdi head runs a tad hot so I’m going to let the matrix run all year, it’s not exactly a airtight cab so I don’t foresee overheating in the cab being an issue . If it becomes one, I may retrofit a valve/bypass or even a flap to shut the heater air out the cab

I think all the heater parts are in a separate parts manual because It was an optional extra. You can download it free. It’s handy for part numbers and remembering how stuff goes back together.

I shall have a look for that, sounds useful

Just rebuilt one myself … I had exactly the same issue with that front bush … it should be held in place by that beryllium strip .. up against the material … reason it comes out is the shaft is corroded and when you disassemble it you pull the bush out … so I’ve re set it .. and works fine …. With the bush in the right place it draws 2 amps at 12v …. With it pressing against the strip ( not located ) it draws 5 amps … and that bearing gets very hot and … so that front bearing needs to be in its hole

It’s been running fine since I got it installed- glad I took the time to do it properly. Good luck on your project

Always the details that take the time up Mat, but you are progressing, could there be some angled spacer tubes missing from the inside which avoid the wiper gearbox coming in contact with the bulkhead and thus angle the wiper spindle away from the screen frame? Always enjoy your videos! Phil

Am wondering this exact thing

It could be the camera strobe, but it looks like the motor is running backwards. I would always expect the rotor to move _towards_ the outlet.

I will check again but I’m pretty sure I got it the correct way around

@@lookcreations I watched again, and it's pretty ambiguous on-screen.

The reason the spindles sits differently is that the wipers goes different ways...........they meet in the middle, not like "modern cars" that moves the same from side to side. :)

Oh wow, never thought about that. Thanks, explains it. Thanks mate

@@lookcreations Yes, if you rotate the left one 180 degrees it will operate like a Defender, but there's not really enough room on the Series windscreen to do that.
