Clannad 'I Will Find You' ~ The Last of the Mohicans

The Last of the Mohicans is a 1992 historical epic film set in 1757 during the French and Indian War. It was directed by Michael Mann and based on James Fenimore Cooper's classic novel, although it owes more to George B. Seitz's 1936 film adaptation than the source novel. The main cast includes Daniel Day-Lewis, Madeleine Stowe, Russell Means, Wes Studi, Eric Schweig and Jodhi May.
The soundtrack features music by Trevor Jones and Randy Edelman, and the song "I Will Find You" by Clannad. The film won an Academy Award for Sound. The main theme of the movie is taken from the tune "The Gael" by Scottish singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean.

Munro's daughters. from wiki The novel is set primarily in the upper New York wilderness, detailing the transport of the two daughters of Colonel Munro, Alice and Cora, to a safe destination at Fort William Henry. Among the caravan guarding the women are the frontiersman Natty Bumppo, Major Duncan Heyward, and the Indians Chingachgook and Uncas, the former of whom is the novel's title character.

This is one of the BEST parts of this movie, it speaks so deep of their bond with this hauntingly beautiful song! It was in the original VHS version but sadly was excluded from the DVD version & I almost cried! I needed this part to remain!!! VERY well done! I will never tire of this movie; it's one of the first ones I reach for when I need a good cry. I'm with the camp that chooses to see it as hopeful, though..."I will find you. If it takes five lifetimes, ten, a thousand years, I WILL find you again." Such a beautiful message. I only have one regret about the movie: Alice and Uncas never really get a big moment together. I mean, come on, Cora and Nathaniel get their fireside kiss, why not those two? I would have felt better.
