I like how Tomoya's sadness stems simply from repetition in his life. It's not like he has it bad off, he's simply sad because he feels nothing will change. This is where the majority of my own sadness comes from- it's not because my life sucks or anything, it's because life can get so dull to the point where I feel like I can't stand it, and I find myself asking if things will ever change like Tomoya does here. I think this sort of gloom from being trapped in a seemingly useless, boring, one dimensional world and having no freedom to travel beyond what you're given as mortal beings is largely ignored- Tomoya is the first I've EVER heard of someone sad because nothing changes. That's why I immediately loved his character.

***** I think the best part about Clannad is the realism, especially in Clannad after story. The way Tomoya was known as a delinquent, and how that actually made a difference later in his life was good to see. (I usually hate characters who are only out for adventure, kind of stubborn and bratty, living life as they see it, you know.) Tomoya wad different- he realized his mistakes and tried to turn his life around. I can't tell you how touched I was when Tomoya comes storming into the building, begging for forgiveness when he messes up on his job. And everyone is incredibly kind to him. I was just like "Tomoya is the kind of hard-working guy we need more of in this world." And everyone else saw that too, they KNEW Tomoya was NOT the type to do the bare minimum, and that reflected in how he was treated.

***** I don't mean just anime characters- there's a LOT of characters like that and it bugs me because it doesn't describe how life works realistically. But with Clannad, everything is just so GENUINE. and, Spoiler for anyone out there, I just adored how Tomoya proposes to Nagisa. In EVERY SINGLE proposal anywhere, the guy gets down on one knee as per traditional and the girl screams in joy, tears up, and gasps "yes!" But tomoya and nagisa's proposal was just...so REALISTIC. With Tomoya seeing Nagisa's tears and realizing he loved her, how he paused for a moment as he decides. How he just mutters that they should get married, and Nagisa doesn't even look up. She mutters yes, and they look into eachothers eyes as they realize what's happening. It was just so PURE, it had so much more EMOTION in it than the regular dramatic scene, and I got to say, I'm hardly ever touched my a proposal but that one just got me.

I love Clannad so much ;_: It brought out all the different emotions in me, sadness, happiness, frustration, literally everything. I love it when anime can do this to me. Young R I actually never cried when watch Clannad 😅 in fact I have yet to find an anime that has brought me to tears. Clannad was by far the closest though, there were times when I almost got to that point. I'll give Your Lie in April a watch! Clannad really opened my eyes to my own life I relate because I came out of high school hating my town, hating my father, and hating where my life was destined to go. The last episodes of after story really hit home and made me think long and hard about who I was, who I was turning into, and just how much my father gave just so I can still be here today. I no longer resent the town I live in and even though my father may never know how I think now I regret how I acted and would give everything just to be able to tell him how grateful I am

Spoiler Alert I've been wondering if everything up to Ushio laying under the tree next to Tomoya at the ending has been a story about his own life and how him and Nagisa got together and when Nagisa was in labor he drifted off and dreamt of a parallel timeline so to speak where Nagisa died and Ushio died from inheriting the same illness. I wonder if that was the other world showing him that he should change his ways, make peace with himself and his past. And his dream ended when Ushio died and he woke back up and was there sitting next to Nagisa laying there upon the floor in good health.

I finished Clannad last year and ever since I come back almost every day to listen to it's tracks , I simply miss it a lot and I really wish there would have been more but as anime experts said, or the anime communities, the end it's perfect as it is but I wanted more ! Its slowly been a year now... a year since ive finished watching clannad for the first time... yet ever since then, i keep coming here or other OST videos to listen to the "Town, flow of time, people" OST of clannad. I have lived in a smaller town ever since i was born. Went to elementary school there, but when i entered high school i was able to go to the big city near my hometown. I finally saw potential in going to school, thinking that maybe i will have more chance and more possibilites there, than staying in my hometown. And while that was indeed true, i started to feel more and more empty. It felt like something was just missing. Unlike Okazaki, its not that i hate my hometown, its just that for some reason whenever im here, i feel so melancholic and cant escape negative thoughts. For some reason, i keep thinking about time and how fast im losing everything i have. The pure feeling of getting old hits so hard, because i realize that i havent done anything worth mentioning. My hometown is the representative of sadness and everything that comes with it. Whenever i feel like that i always come listen to "Town, flow of time, people". The music itself is beautiful, but whenever i read its title it gives me chills. It has everything thats causing me pain. The town (my hometown) that i live in, the time flowing too quickly, and the people ive met becoming only memories. Its such a suffocating feeling. This track helps ease the pain. Thank you, Clannad. 🤎

the music in clannad fits every aspect of life. it sounds crazy to think of, but every song fits some situation. the music can be used as the perfect emotional sound track. back in high school i used to go to the beach at night, sit on the rocks and look out to the endless ocean and place songs from clannad. its when i realized that even though my town is ugly, small, and flawed, its where i grew up. and anywhere else just wouldnt be home.

Lol at that title you came up with. I agree! It's definitely a very memorable/iconic or impactful (however you want to describe it) piece of the sound track. The recurring use of it and other songs to set the mood and amplify emotions in various types scenes, building a shared language of sorts with the viewer, and the many remixes and alternate od complete versions of songs with added vocals that are revealed at extremely important moments in the story are all reasons that Clannad is an absolute masterpiece in my mind.

Pratyush Gawai This anime made me think that I should rethink my family. I should connect with them more. Like Tomoya, I never looked at things from my dad’s point of view, my sister’s point of view, and so on... until I saw those episodes of Clannad After Story and saw my flaws more clearly. This anime was also probably the reason why I began to handle problems in better ways in life. I never expected the best (because Clannad reminded me that nothing will stay the same, so even if I did well in one situation, I shouldn’t expect that the same may occur in another situation), and as a result, I became less stressed. Without being so strict towards myself, I actually ended up doing better in life.

Wow, 9 years later........ no one will read this so ill write this for me in the future. So much has changed. Since then I reunited with my mom. (Single mother) got married had a daughter. Lost them both. Broke of ties with my mother due to extenuating circumstances. Lost friends due to suicide... Lost family due to time. The places I used to enjoy now only bring me pain. I'm filled with regret for the choices I made and the ones I didn't. I watched Clanned because watching Tomoya do his best as the shit he was delt made me feel better that I didn't have it as bad..... Now I wish I could go back to when I first wrote this. Literally redo everything. Unfortunately i don't have light orbs, and this isn't a story. Hopefully future me, if you see this. You did well...

I just watched the first season. And I am about to watch After Story. I try to avoid spoilers although I feel like I don't understand anything. But at this point I feel like so many people are touched by this anime because it shows actual problems actual teenagers would have. Maybe the fear of forgetting or the fear of regretting something you are about to do. Fear of losing friends, and making new friends/ being new. Problems at home, feeling like you have no one to talk to. As I said. I don't get it yet, maybe I never will. But I am entertained anyways because it keeps you busy with all these fates to worry about.
