6:50 An alternative to telling people to do that is by using coach numbers to indicate what part of the train to travel in. For example, for Christ's hospital with its 7 coach platform, they would tell you to travel between coaches 5 and 11. This could require companies to expand usage of numbering coaches, but could prevent people who travel in the wrong part of the train from ending up in Barnham when they are going to Christ's Hospital .

Unfortunately due to Phil Sayer’s passing, they had to replace his voiceovers both due to the fact that some announcements will differ in the future (due to new stations, new franchises etc.) and because I read somewhere else that his family withdrew their permission for his voice to be used (not that I blame them with all due respect, must’ve been quite upsetting to hear his voice knowing he’s no longer around).

Interesting points. Phil is still in use on Chiltern so I didn’t think it was due to licensing - First Group seem to have a vendetta against Ditra/Amey and KeTech and they have replaced such systems in their franchises. I was under the impression that Southern’s was replaced due to cost, apparently Amey wanted over 6k to record Mitcham Eastfields, and the other parts of the GTR network used ATOS already, which is reportedly quite low cost to install in comparison

@@Parallel395 6k for one recording whata rip off. I think First seem to favour Atos over Ditra/Amey and KeTech. I thought that Elinor has Phils licesnse removed for the south or the Ditra system which made the system change, I don't think Southern updated their system because of the cost as they had some old reasons and old delays etc.

I usually have Noise Reduction set to 7; Sensitivity at 1.50 and Frequency at 3. I find that works for most but I do have to tweak it occasionally. Getting a good section of background noise for the Noise Profile definitely helps too.

Yup, it sounds like they’ve used a bad quality microphone for his new SWR/Southern stuff, what’s strange is he’s recorded some new stuff for GWR since and his voice is much better. I also don’t understand the random long pauses after certain stations.

Is it very unusual for trains to terminate at Streatham Hill from London Victoria or is that normal. Because I don't travel around those areas so I don't have a clue. Would like to know. Thank you

I believe there was engineering work on that line, I don't think it's overly common for trains to terminate there.

The PA systems at train stations adjust their volume automatically depending on how much background noise there is on the station. Most of them though are unable to adjust the volume mid-announcement so it can sometimes result in the announcements being unnecessarily loud which I assume is what happened here; the newer systems are able to adjust mid-announcement though

Ruth would probably be quite good at Clapham Junction (if her voice hadn't become so deep) as she announces quickly. Maybe paired with Matt from GTR with newly recorded stations with better inflections, so things flow better. Never going to happen sadly. I'm not a fan of Chipmunk Rodger!
