Years ago I'd read about a predicted world wide rice shortage so I bought an extra bag of rice each week until I had a big rubbermaid tub full of bags of rice. I also had another tub full of different types of beans and pasta that I'd buy when on sale. When I lost my job and couldn't find a new job for almost 2 years (due to ageism) that stockpile of extra food helped keep me alive along with purchases of cheap foods at the store with the meager savings I had. I was too damn proud/stubborn to go to a food bank or to apply for government assistance. I'm retired now and keep a stockpile of shelf stable foods and some of the lower priced freeze dried long term shortage foods on hand. With the East Coast dock workers strike I'm expecting even higher food prices soon and food shortages to start up again. I keep at least 6 months of food in my house now. I also have a water filtration device intended for camping and hiking, a tarp that I could use to create rain water collection system on my deck, just in case. I can fish and hunt if necessary but I don't eat much meat. If I lived in the country I'd have chickens. It's smart to be prepared in advance but not go overboard.

I have a propane fueled central furnace but propane is expensive. Also used for the cookstove and oven. I used infrared heaters to about 30 degrees F before I use the furnace. The electric infrareds do a really good job and are less expensive to operate than the furnace. I do have a woodburner, but would only use that in an emergency. Perhaps ask farmer his plans for puppies and see if you can find someone to foster them. I have always kept a supply of dry goods for emergencies. In an emergency there is always going to be something you're short on, but I was raised to think outside the box and do what you can to be prepared.

I have a stock of rice, pasta, sugar, flour and can goods. I also have a freezer with meat. I have been preparing for the past 3 years. Now with the strike of Long shore men in the states...it will come in handy.

I only tend to stock up a few extra supplies for winter months in case I am snowed in, but I would not bother stocking up for a war, because if it is nuclear I would rather die quick than suffering in the fall out.
@melissaroth4467Ай бұрын
Tuna, salmon, clams, canned ham, Keystone brand meats, peanut butter- all good protein sources, along with beans. Those are on the cheaper end. On the pricey end is dehydrated and freeze dried foods such as Auguson Farms and Emergency essentials.

I've been a bit of a preper for about three years now, but as a carnivore it a bit tricky, I store lots of tinned dog food and tinned meat and tuna, plus oats,flour,potato flakes and other dry goods in Mylar bags, plus tea and coffee and dried milk, I'm able to shoot and now how to set traps too, might never need it but when I rotate the tins etc it keep my granddaughters in good at uni 😁 Also have a portable gas cooker, wind up radio, solar power pack and lights, and water purifier, I'm my defence in not a crazy lady but out here we get a lot of power cuts and water cuts too and at the moment I don't trust the government much so I think it's sensible to have a stockpile. Clara's puppies look nice, would be a good hot water bottle if you had one 😁

Haven’t heard that date in Aus, my thinking is earlier but don’t count on specific dates. We’ve been stocking up on rice, pasta’s, canned/bottles pasta sauce, flour, yeast, salt, sugar, oil, tin foods, long life milk, oats, water, jam & honey, toilet paper, medications. Alternative lighting, cooking, heating… just in case.

I've been prepping for a while now. I noticed since shipping has to take the long route, a lot of choices have disappeared. I'm carnivore, so decided to stock up on canned meat. Got a camper stove and loads of gas canisters. Also a fire pit in case i run out. Now Iran is attacking Israel . I've ordered loads of seed for my parrot too. I'm totally on my own. So no choice. Trying to get advice on ecoflow and which one to get.

Why not adopt one of Clara's puppies? Regarding diet, lentils are nutritious and tasty if you're a creative cook (if not purchase a cookbook of your choice). So lentils, rice, pasta, you could store longterm. And ingredients for making a meal enjoyable, tomato puree, stock cubes, dried herbs, spices, black pepper corns, sea salt. Oats are very nutritious and would store well (good for tummy comfort too). And I expect you will grow veggies and have soft fruit bushes as well as your fruit trees.

I try to keep a supply of food here in Thailand. Very difficult. There is no canned meat. Apart from tuna, all sardines and mackerel are in a can with tomato sauce, sugared. Inedible as a carnivore. I order butter from Lazada, imported from New Zealand. I freeze it. Beef has become 30% more expensive again. But the left side of my fridge has 7 ice compartments, which I always keep full. I always get eggs. I also have plenty of lard and beef tallow.

The perfect response to my video, I never thought to freeze butter :-)

Isn’t it time you reserved one of Clara’s puppies instead of coming out with a comment like that. Would rather not hear about her puppies than think of them in a river. You’re either following them to have one or you’re not.

When I was young ,people used to drown kittens and unwanted puppies. They didn’t neuter them back then so there were often accidental pairing.
@samm4265Ай бұрын
They still do this in France, it is disgusting in modern times when vets can sterilise/neuter pets to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

I went mad stocking up because of Brexit. I got quite anxious about it. Thankfully I have anxiety under control now so can be more sensible. You need bottled water, something to cook on, heating, shelter, first aid supplies and food. Freeze dried food can last for a very long time. P.S Get one of Clara's puppies!!! 🐶 😂

Not sure where the chateau is located but they have a mom and 4 kittens to rehome. There are 3 black and 1 brown/tan color. To check what shots they have it is in the blog called “Saving Our 18th Century Chateau Buildings From Ruin. I hope they are not to far. You can laugh at me if they are. 😊 oh I think the have 9 or 10 cats they have rescued in their chateau. 😺

4 am here, and up because I am aching after an afternoon in the garden. Hot cup of tea and antiflamme, hopefully will do the trick. I would be very depressed if I started worrying about the 24th March 2025. Many Britons are unable to store food, barely able to put the next meal on the table. Food banks are becoming the new supermarkets. What sort of gas do you use. Are they propane? Ours was LPG. Thanks for keeping me company this morning, goodnight, Marc.

Hi Marc , Hope we won’t need it then we can eat it, lentils , pasta , rice , tinned tuna and mackerel lovely with potatoes if you can eat them ( if you have à carrefour the recettes de France douarnanez mackerel are very nice). Chick peas good for loads of things and oats too. Olive oil and tinned or jars of tomato. Bit of flour, onions garlic etc. I heat with wood , gas hob. What have you seen concerning 24 th march?
@GoingsoloinFranceАй бұрын
I have no information about March next year... Just that something huge was planned.
@karensmyth9147Ай бұрын
Hi Marc, why dont you adopt one of Claras puppies. You have plenty of outside space for it to roam around. Just make a decision. You're missing out on all the love an animal can give you. I reckon your appetite will come back when you are fulfilled. Plus, when you going walking with your dog it opens up conversations with folks. As for stocking up, what's the point if you.only eat meat. If you were to get chicken's why not sell the eggs outside your property with an honesty box. Along with tomatoes and other bits, you grow that you dont eat. The other thing is with your carpentry capabilities, why not make a few bird feeding houses for sale. Anyway, just some thoughts. 😂 take care x

I was thinking (again) how you asked if your viewers had anyone/family on whom to rely. I live with my father and sister in the same house we moved to in 1983 (when I was six) and I have no one to rely on ever since my Mom ceased to recognize I was her daughter.😢 Merely because you live close to (or even with) relatives doesn’t mean you aren’t alone. (Of course, if I were chocking, or bleeding copiously they’d call an ambulance😕). My friends drifted away as they married, had children and I nursed my Mom for seven years. My extended family (that few that are still alive and I had somewhat knew) live in France. Sometimes, I think it’s better to be actually alone because then you don’t have to navigate the tricky shoals of other people’s personality while handling your own issues (essentially) on your own. 🤔😐

Good news about Clara. I'm not sure about the 24th march 2025 I didn't know that was a date to look out for very scary. I hope not to go down the route of storing up food and toilet rolls again too depressing it's like lockdown again. Live for today as tomorrow never comes as the old saying goes. Your garden is looking really good makes me go out and tidy mine for winter coming.
