Clara Lieu was an Adjunct Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design from 2007-2020. Her artwork has been exhibited at the International Print Center NY, the Currier Museum, Childs Gallery, the Davis Museum, and more. Lieu received an artist fellowship from the MA Cultural Council, has written for the NY Times, and lectured at Brown University, the NAEA conference, and in Vancouver & China. I just discovered your channel a week or so ago as I'm getting back into my art. You are such an amazing teacher and artist. I love that you can communicate not just art techniques but how to grow as an artist. This challenge was so much fun. Portrait drawing is what I have always gravitated to and drawing with a timer was something I've never done before. It's a great way to force yourself to accept the blunders and not reach for the eraser. Every mark I put down becomes more intentional. Thanks for sharing your gift!

And can i ask what is used to protect them from smudging and scratches?

The only fool proof option is to put it under glass, which usually costs too much. I haven't done this myself but some people have tried a spray varnish or something similar, so you might look that up. I've also had it shrink wrapped for shipping as well. -Prof Lieu
