The message of House of Cards final season; Claire is a psychopath. Is there any other way to read it?

this was just a feminist season
@kabeltelevizio5 жыл бұрын
Why? Setting aside the quality of this season, the fact that a show has a female main character doesn't make it feminist. Claire seemed to be just like Frank, a ruthless, narcissistic egoist, who destroyers her opponents carelessly. She keeps saying she is is detached from Frank, but her actions are even more brutal than her former husbands. I doubt any of these would be considered feminist ideals.

@@kabeltelevizio in my point of view Claire actually showed how ideas or feminism and equality are used to gain power. She doesnt believe in femenist ideas nor is the trying empower women because of those feminist ideals. She actually does empower women but not for the sake of feminism but for the sake of her own benefit. The all-female cabinet, playing the womancard all the time, the rape allegations against the colonel in season 2 are instances of her using feminism to enhance her power.

I know they had to change things aroind quickly due to the Spacey allegations but what the fuck was this writing. It would so unfeasible for someone in Claires position to order all of these without consequences or questions. I thought it was dumb and annoying when they killed Leann Harvey , it kinda didnt bother me about the writer love interest and that could be plausible to cover that up. Tom Hammerschmidt would be an easy enough one to make look legit, but how the hell could she get Cathy and Jane so easily with no follow up. Really really poor final season. What a horrible taste it leaves on the series as a whole. Side note, Janine Skorsky had the safest idea to try stay away from it all

That was my thinking too. The President isn't some backwards tyrant. They can't just order domestic opposition to be murdered like that. I think it would have been more interesting if Claire TRIED to have all this done, but found that people wouldn't follow her orders, and it causing a huge political crisis when it leaked to the press. I can believe a President might conceivably attempt to have their opponents whacked like some sort of Mafia boss, but I have a harder time believing that those within the CIA or Secret Service would ever play ball.

I was upset when Tom ‘had ‘ to die - it’s frustrating when bad people win in the end and get away with blue murder and nothing is questioned . I so wanted Claire to go to prison or die !

So all these people who had close connections to the Underwoods were clearly murdered within less than a day and we’re expected to believe no one noticed or began connecting the dots? How the fuck did anyone get to Jane, anyway? The writing this season was incredibly sloppy and disjointed.
@maszlagma3 жыл бұрын
I agree with the comments about this, this is just sloppy and too much. They clearly tried to establish Claire as a "different Claire" wiping away any doubt she can be as Ruthless as Frank but this is just unnecessary. It's clear they were in the hurry to wrap this whole series up as fast as possible which had a negative effect on quality there's no finesse about the way this was handled.

that was not ruthless that was just stupid the president is not king his bond by rule of law now franc played the game well he strecth what he could abuse what he can and grease the right hands or whip the right butt to get what he want in a way that the audience can still belive a crooked season politican who knows the game could get away and somtime it backfires on him and he had to do damage control claire just outright murdur 3 people who the hell did she get to do all that cia/sof/dea/fbi/nsa/us military thats litrily the go to force the president could use to excute such a task and no leak what so ever now if your putin a dictator then yeah its possible but franc played it wll his a crooked president in a deomcracy trying to find loophole that somtime work out to his favor.
