IN THE DEFENSE OF POWERLIFTING: besides Owen Hubbard all of the PL clips are from juiced untested wrapped/equipped lifters. If you look at all the current ipf men world champions, they all have pretty aesthetic lifts. Add in John haack and its not so bad :( weightlifting still aesthetically looks so much sicker tho edit: I meant the world record holders who are in most cases the USAPL nats. (off the top I think Charles Okpoko, Taylor Atwood, Orhii, Cayco, Rouska?, cornelious, and ray williams/olivares). but John MIller's youtube channel has some of the ipf world vods , and the average international lifters technique is fairly inoffensive imo. The "Sean Noriega" and westside aesthetic definitely isn't representative of the average drug tested and or raw lifters.

We need a powerlifting style event where ROM is factored in the scoring. Weight x ROM = Score. People should be rewarded for lifting the heaviest weight the longest range of motion instead of the shortest. People would only do wide grip bench or sumo if the added poundage was worth the lost ROM. Taller thinner people would be competitive with shorter thicker people of the same weight class, allowing for wider competitive participation. I think if this became an established sport people would flock to it and view traditional raw powerlifting the way raw powerlifters now view geared lifting.

It's not practical to get the tape measure out and watch the high speed replay after every lift to calculate a score. Unfortunately, I think powerlifting is doomed to never significantly change :(

This is something that would be in place in a Rick and Morty universe. Too complicated and retarded.
@bp567892 жыл бұрын
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

@@singularity3724 I don't know anything about technology, but given that everyone I know has a smart phone in their pocket I don't think it would be too hard to develop a sensor to measure the high point and low point in a lift. Obviously there would still be some kinks to be worked out with the rules in a ROM based event, but I think it would be a step in the right direction
@thegrinderman10902 жыл бұрын
@@moneytimesfifteen It's not a bad idea, but you'll get tall people winning even though they're lifting significantly less weight than someone else, and that means it's gonna be seen as a laughing stock. Some sports are going to advantage people with certain body proportions, and that's alright.

Let's take a peak at pros in other sports. How many use squat, bench, deadlift as primary drivers vs how many use a weightlifting clean and jerk a snatch?

I realise that resistance-/weight-training is overall good for increasing bone strength and density, but even out of the three, i.e. conventional bodybuilding, weightlifting, and powertraining, which one creates the highest bone strength and density (especially in legs, hips, and spine)? I'm around mid-30s in age and have not done resistance training until now with regularity, unfortunately. So I've missed the ship of creating most bone strength. But now i want to engage in the style of resistance training that makes me strong now, and keeps me strong in my old age too with minimal orthopedic problems. Please advise.

@@davorzdralo8000 You don't seem to know much about weightlifting then. It is only 2 lifts but those lifts teach you the fundamental movements of everyday life. It's a squat, pull and overhead at its max ROM, those 3 principles are extremely well rounded and suited for overall athleticism. Weightlifters are squatting and pulling in any form on any given day. Only thing weightlifters neglect are usually chest, bicep and cardio/endurance. I agree it's not the best if you're a casual gym goer or someone wanting to be more asthethic
