Clarisea SK 3000 Automatic Gen 2 - Hopefully Fixed The Problem

I fitted a clarisea to my tank on january the 3rd 2020 and i am going to change my 1st roll today, june 10th 2020. I fitted it as high as possible in the sump. Water level just above the flap

John Wakefield I found out afterwards pal there had been a faulty batch of rolls arrive in the uk and i was burning through them like crazy, I took it off in the end and went back to floss while they fixed the issue but found no difference using floss other than that I saved a fortune on rolls so I sold it on 👍

Now that you’ve raised it mate , what is the new water height inside the Clarisea . Did u say it’s just below the float switch ? Thanks in advance

Robbie Williams hi mate, yep it’s just below the float switch. when the roll clogs it rises, pushes the float switch up and rolls it on 👍 I’m doing some sump work over Christmas though so I’m planning on raising it to the highest level on the bracket 👍

UK Reefer I’ve just rang DD and Stuart said to have it as high up as possible to maximize the life of the roll . Their customer service has been class , I broke the motor on Friday by using the wrong screw . They emailed me straight back out of hours and contacted me first thing yesterday morning to say they would send me a replacement motor . Well impressed with them

Robbie Williams Stuart’s a great guy mate, he’s helped me a fair bit with the issue I’m having with the rolls. He’s advised me to raise it up also I just can’t at the moment as it will restrict my access to the return section but if the sump tweak goes ahead I’ll definitely be able to get it on the highest setting 👍👍

UK Reefer nice work mate I need to buy a union and get chopping and glueing this weekend and get mine on the go

@@robbiewilliams8580 thanks mate, i definitely recommend the union but on top of that don't glue the plumbing so that if you need to adjust it it's easy to take it off and adjust

Can you install thi on the Red Sea Reefer 250 without ripping out the stock filter sock holder?

I’ve got no idea pal as I’ve never had a 250, I’ve seen people fit them so imagine you can although it might give you more room removing them. In my case it gave me a lot more room pal 👍

Gavin Mann thanks pal it’s all getting there mate. D&D have been in contact with me asking me to raise the Clarisea up further but have also sent me some test rolls which arrived this week. I’m waiting for the roll I have on to burn through and I’ll then be fitting these test rolls. Fingers crossed they do the job as it’s a fantastic piece of kit it’s just the rolls letting it down at the minute but D&D are on it bud 👍 I’ll keep the news posted on here 👍

@@ukreefer4907 Nice one thanks. i have mine set so sump water level is at top of bypass cover. May raise another inch. May also slow flow down through it until the rolls have been sorted. Love the unit as hated filter socks, just hope fleece gets updated as gonna cost a fortune otherwise.🤞 Will keep an eye out for updates. cheers😊

Gavin Mann no problem at all. d&d have recommended to me to stick the Clarisea as high as it will go on the bracket pal 👍 apparently it’s got something to do with the head pressure but they are definitely working on the fleece roll issue as these tester rolls feel totally different to the original rolls. Fingers crossed this new material works buddy. Got the moving video hopefully going on tomorrow 👍

What did u do with over flow pipe going in the sump Did u just leave it

Mike Hutchinson i just left the overflow pipe going into the sump pal, I have the water level a few cm’s under the emergency in the weir anyways do nothing really goes down it 👍

Korey Cooper It should be perfect for a predator tank pal 👍 a predator tank should be easier to run than this one as this is a mixed reef system with a view to go heavy with sps in the future 👍

alan cunningham lol!! I forgot to mention on the video! They’re on pal 😂 had a serious amount of luck. I put the left door on first and it went on dead level! I couldn’t believe it, I had to slightly adjust the right door but it was a doddle 😊 was so relieved I didn’t have to take the sump out 😊

Looking at the water depth I would raise the height up still further so that the water level in the sump is about the same level as the bottom of the bypass pipe. The more of the Clarissa that is above the water, the more head pressure there is to drive the filter. Also I note that you had not used the 2 black bungs to hold the brackets in place, other than that, good work.

Thanks Stuart, I didn't see any black bungs in with the box pal, i'll dig it out and have another look. I'll raise it up further as you suggest and fingers crossed that will help the rolls last longer. Thanks pal

Just a update on my clarisea 3000 On my Redsea250 reefer Roll is lasting about 4 month now Its only in a inch of water with the slots on the tube inside it pointing down Alot better now Next fix is the gate vale there shocking on the redsea shite

UK Reefer i was thinking of putting a union either side of the gate valve for cleaning what u reckon have u had any problems with it

Miketube666 unions a good idea mate just incase, I’ve never had an issue with mine but I’ve also got a union further up the pipe along with a union below just incase 👍
