Love these Clark County units, nice and short, great turning radius. It’s much needed all over the city, but especially on the strip and behind the casinos. The traffic is brutal. Friday, Saturday, and event nights are just packed, the shorter the unit, the easier it is to get through. I’m not 100% sure, but I think most of there pumpers are now this new design. The only Engines I’ve seen that aren’t the new short design are Engine 26, 76, and 85. 76 and 85 are the Engines assigned to each Laughlin stations. They seem to get the leftovers, and Engine 26 also gets the leftovers. Another couple of great up to date units are 2 of there ladder trucks. CCFR has Truck 61, 75’ PUC Quint. Beautiful truck. And they just within the last year put into service a 100’ PUC Platform with everything that could be thought of on this unit. Just top notch units!!!! If your a buff, stop and take a look at ALL of the fire companies units in the entire valley, either Clark County, LAS Vegas City, Henderson Fire, North LAS Vegas, or Boulder City, all have top of the line equipment and stations, plus 85% are Pierce. City of LAS Vegas is buying Smeal/Spartan, and Henderson has 3 pumpers from Rosenbauer, but went back to Pierce for the newest Engine 91, and there newest Platform that isn’t in service yet. The out laying volunteer departments in Clark County run lots of older retired units from the County such as EONE, Pierce, and some new Ferrara Engines, and not sure who builds the Squads they all run. Check them out while in the City or County, state of the art.

Why??? Departments choose what they like based on need and requirements.
