@@deerhunter2218....I got it a bit wrong there, this is cut & paste from wiki .... The group was formed in 1977 by songwriter/keyboardist Dammers, vocalist Tim Strickland, guitarist/vocalist Lynval Golding, drummer Silverton Hutchinson and bassist Horace Panter (a.k.a. Sir Horace Gentleman). Strickland was replaced by Terry Hall shortly after the band's formation. The band was first called the Automatics, then the Coventry Automatics.[9] Vocalist Neville Staple and guitarist Roddy Byers (usually known as Roddy Radiation) joined the band the following year; the new line-up changed their name to the Special AKA. Joe Strummer of The Clash had attended one of their concerts, and invited the Special AKA to open for his band in their "On Parole" UK tour. This performance gave the Special AKA a new level of national exposure, and they briefly shared the Clash's management.

I was there on the second night. We went down for the first night but it was sold out so we slept rough and went for the second night.

This venue went on to become the 'Camden Palace' & then 'KoKo' with its popular club nights & at 0:36 you can clearly see Mornington Crescent top station in the near distance. Fantastic moment at 2:34 when Strummer's building-up for the start of 'What's My Name?' & presumably asking his name from all the regional places ('Aberdeen, Manchester, Perthshire, Newcastle') before Mick irritatedly interrupts him by saying (at 2:59) "It's Safe European Home!". Strummer then apologies & they crash in to it!

I realize it is widely believed this footage is from the 27th of July, but I'm not sure about this. I have a bootleg of every Music Machine show performed during this stretch with the exception of the show on the 26th, and none of my audio matches this. I know the audio for this show was re-recorded, but, for example, the part during European Home where Joe says "they got the tree, they got the smoker" or something like that, that obviously was what he really sang, despite the overdubbing in studio ,because it matches his lips and hand movements. On my bootleg from the 27th, he does not sing this part. I think this was most likely filmed on July 26.

That's interesting. Most of the sources I checked claim it's from the 27th, but I don't think I have a bootleg to actually check it

This is how Safe European Home and the whole fucking Give'em enough rope should have sounded without Sandy Pearlman and his shitty production, all these fabulous songs wasted in their studio versions
