Every time this plays on TV, I seem to come in during the scorpion-- I looked this up because I could never quite figure out if the blood from Medusa's head just turned into the scorpions, or if it was meant to have dripped onto some scorpions that happened tobe there. It looks to me like the blood just becomes scorpions. (These are the questions that keep one up at night.)

Okay in this movie it was from Medusa the scorpions came. In the remake. It was from the blood of Calibos. Plus taming the scorpions in the new movie, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. lol They jacked up the new one so bad, If you never saw the 1981 movie, any one will love it, but if your old (like me) and saw the original, you will hate the new one.

this movie has more deatail than the new 1. not saying the new one is bad, i give it a 7/10. the story is too short in the new one and the only gods mentioned are Zeus and Hades, and Hades isnt even a bad guy! hes 2 busy with the underwrld to do anything! My favorite charector in the new one is The Jin soceror dude.Kamakazi!!!!but following up the hades thing, i wish it just stayed the same, not hav the fallen king hav them hunt them but the son of Aphrodite

Calibos tripping that one guy with his whip is what i call a cheap-shot considering that guy was putting up a good fight against that giant scorpion until he got tripped by Calibo's whip. It's a good thing that Perseus killed Calibos by throwing his sword into his stomach considering that this is what he gets for trying to send giant scorpions to kill him and his men.

I find it odd that the giant scorpions didn't appear after Medusa got decapitated considering that they appeared after Calibos stabbed her head inside that bag with his fork hand and yet earlier they didn't appear after Perseus decapitated her head off with his sword.

I actually kinda feel bad for Calibos. Yeah, it was shitty that he exterminated the pegasi species, but the way Zeus punished him sounded evem worse. I think killing him slowly would have been more honorable. Perseus was too perfect, so it made him extremely hard to relate to as a character, and Andromeda just sounded extremely shallow.

@Yooperthing Don't dis these effects. :( This was some of legendary Ray Harryhausen's last work. I thought it was awesome. I mean sure, it doesn't look very real or smooth, but dude... it takes so much work to animate those creatures... I'm not saying today's CGI doesn't take a lot of work. And of course, in the 80s there were other methods available, but I think it's kinda cool this movie stuck with the older style. Those scorpions used to scare the shit out of me. O_o

@ecoo911 how does a high tech cartoon look more real? -.- I say they're both fakey in their own ways, no matter how detailed the new one is, it doesn't look very REAL or solid. (neither does this) I think they did fix some of the problems stop motion had, but CGI is overrated... there's way too much animation for it to look real. I prefer this version simply because the animation looks more believable. They're ratchety crustaceans, they're not supposed to have fluent motion.
