Another great video as always. I really like the comparison videos sure it's not perfect but it does give us a good ideal about how the trucks perform. Having the same driver on the same course helps because you do a good job with it. Having just recently gotten back into the hobby the mental health aspect has been a huge factor, with what I've been through the last few years it would have broke most people but I'm still going strong and your channel has helped alot so thanks for that. I really like the cross rc but I believe I would go with the Traxxas just because of the aftermarket support. Time will tell on how well the aftermarket support will open up for the Cross Rc...

Cross RC support has been excellent from the resellers I've used over the past few years I've had cross rc models, but as far as after market goes, it's a bit thin on the ground. This model deserves plenty of options, but it's also a very complete package from the outset, so that helps. Thanks for sharing, I'm glad to have been part of hanging in there. Keep hanging in there, rc brother.

Great review, as you always spoil us with throrough details on the performance. As a personal recommendation, I wonder if we could benefit from a bit more comments (yes, ofc they are already there, but a bit more in detail) beyond their performance, such as the way they feel when driving. Obviously, a different set of wheels+tire combo, a steering servo or electronics will give completely different feel from one rig to the other, but maybe in the way they manage their weight, how tippy, how stable, how well the suspension copes, etc. I am left wondering a bit on these characteristics when going through your videos. Just friendly a personal note to take your videos to the next level. Thanks again for your top effort, Craig!!👌🏻

Thank you, I'll think on that. I have trouble focusing on details for more than 5 seconds - none of my videos are scripted and you're getting the first take with a bunch of cuts 90% of the time. Thanks. I've considered it, but with my two TRX-4s being so modified, I don't know how useful that video would be against the stock Sport kit (with custom electronics, as all kits will be). The only thing I've thought to do there would be to get the Sport as upgraded as possible and then see how they go against each other. I kinda would want to see this video with stock RTR Sport and stock RTR Defender or Bronco, but that is unlikely to happen at this stage!

There are many other options running on the same base though :) You've got the JT4, JT6, AT6, NT4, NT6, and the XT4 that I'm building now. All of the above are available as a kit, too! I am looking for a trail truck that can handle rocks crawling as well. I am looking at the Cross RC AT4 or The vanquish Phenix v4-10. are testing these 2 cars which would be a better fit for me? I would most likely be using it in both settings. I don't want to add a lot of aftermarket or upgrade just straight out of the box.
@RCTNT Жыл бұрын
They're both special vehicles. In my experience you'll get far more versatility and performance from the Emo AT4, especially in stock form. Mind you, they're both potentially kit builds too, which I'd recommend over RTR as you'll get to choose your favourite electronics from the start. That's what I did with the phoenix postal and the AT4 and I have no regrets there. But regardless of kit or RTR, the AT4 will out-crawl the vs4-10 in most situations. It's also arguably more fun on the trails, with unlockable diffs and 2-soeed. The vs4-10 does have DIG and overdrive options, which you'd think would put it ahead on rocks, but it can't match the AT4 for breakover and raw capability on tricky technical lines. The one exception to that would be steep side hills, where I suspect the Vanquish might do a bit better - but only if you change the tires. Again, stock vs stock, after all my testing, I'm confident the AT4 would win handily most of the time.

If I may ask - how wide are the axles (tracks) if these two? I am asking as I have seen Killerbody LC70 on the TRX4 and as one would expect the axles are a bit too wide and I am wondering whether the AT4 chassis could fit a bit better (visually).

@@RCTNT thank you very much! I guess the better way towards a little more scale would be starting with the XT4 and putting on smaller wheels/tires (the body would be 'scale enough' for me). And I recall reading on your web page, that you have one in the pipeline :)
@RCTNT11 ай бұрын
Right! Yes, there's an XT4 that needs building. Another axle you could consider is the Boom Racing PHAT axles, they're pretty epic. I've covered them on the channel quite a bit and I run them under several RC4WD rigs here too, they're that good. Here's the (affiliate) link for ATees: asiate.es/aff?l=151552&i=76070 I've bought several sets and if you have the budget, they're one of the toughest and most broadly configurable axles on the aftermarket for 1/10 crawlers.

Very good video! How has your EMO AT4 hold up since this video now $339? I'm trying to decide between it and the TRX-4 Blazer now $519. I don't think the battery come with either rig in RTR. Your opinion would be helpful.
@RCTNT2 жыл бұрын
Still good, no breakages yet. I love it. If that's the price difference - and remembering the Cross is a kit so you can put decent, cheap electronics in like I did, you're laughing. TRX4 for after market support. Cross for value and uniqueness. If budget is the prime factor in your choice, get the Cross. Otherwise, go with personal preference. Me, if I could only have one between them, it'd be the EMO AT4. But there's no wrong answer to this one, they're both high quality.

@RCTNT3 жыл бұрын
I have both of these radios. Based on user experience over the last few years, I'd still buy the Flysky if the Futaba was the same price. Be aware that the throttle got a little loose on the first GT5 I had but it was used for 7 or 8 models in all weather for several years before that happened! I have another and I'm still ahead on outlay over the Futaba. Receivers are cheaper too!
@joerutkowsky32613 жыл бұрын
@@RCTNT ok thank you for the honest reply. Are the features similar to the futaba?
@RCTNT3 жыл бұрын
@@joerutkowsky3261 they're pretty similar but each model has its own special tricks. I personally like the button, 3 way switch and two dials on the GT5. I like the fs-a3 and fs-a6 as really cheap receiver options - you don't have to only use the gyro enabled one it comes with. The Futaba does one big thing the GT5 doesn't - and that is mixing, which is the ability to make other channels respond in pre-set ways when you manipulate any particular channel. It gives you granular control over what everything does and how it does it in relation to what other channels are doing. The GT5 doesn't do this, which is partially why it's cheaper. Bottom line, if you don't need mixing, get the GT5. It's programming interface is much simpler because it doesn't need to take mixing into account, so that's another plus if you just want a simple radio with individual channels and nothing more complex than that. If you need mixing, the Futaba line is just one of several to consider. Hope this helps!

Thanks, Mark! The Bronco's performance was a surprise given just how heavy it is! The TRX4 is such a legendary platform! A few of you have asked for Bronco vs Sport, so I can do that, no problem. I have some ideas for the video already actually. Servos: You said "decent" and my pick of the bunch, with an open budget, is the Holmes 12v v3 brushless waterproof unit. It's cheaper than some high end gear and it's very, very good. I also like the 46kg jx Servo waterproof brushless unit. It's cheaper than the Holmes and still very good, though you'll want a BEC to feed it the 8.4v it is designed for. A step cheaper again is the jx servo HV coreless 46kg waterproof one (cls-hv7346mg). I am putting this unit into my VS4-10 build, so we'll see how that goes. This covers most of the ones I like, at the beefier and of things. The Holmes ones are hard to beat.
