With the Update for Losers hindering progress for all players and level 15 on the horizon with no real new content, it's apparent Supercell and the developers of Clash Royale are making changes for nothing but greed. Here's what's happened and everything you need to know. Please note I do not hate the developers of Clash Royale or have a personal grudge, but I will give harsh criticism when I feel it's necessary.

So true I played this game actively in 2016 - 2017 and a bit for a month in 2019. This Chanel just popped up out of nowhere. I love the content it gives me good memories on some of the other videos. Like when the Night Witch was busted when it came out. That was the only 12 win challenge I won for a legendary and it was pretty cool. The first week there was Night Witch rage, clone, ice Golem and mirror very troll deck. Also the Brudge spam with Night Witch was pretty awesome and One Giant, Sparky and Night Witch deck.

To start it forces you not only to build and max 4 unique decks but it also forces you participate every war, you have to be active daily from Thursday to Sunday otherwise you will kicked any decent clan. About the levels, on Clan wars 1 the top league capped out at lvl.12 and very rare a clan gets a card capped to lvl.13. Lastily it forces you to play with the same 4 other clans for the entire season/month. You opponent could be the most active tryhard whales and there is nothing you can do and just accept you'll never get to 1st place for the entire month

Check the timeline, this is far too early…I can guarantee that almost no f2p player period has maxed their cards completely. Ever. So imagine how hard it will be for f2p to progress now that these gold pass changes are in affect AAND the fact that they’re adding an entirely new level. The fact that they never needed the first additional level in the firs place tells us everything we need to know. This level is overwhelmingly unneeded. The thing that pissed me off the most is 2v2. 2v2 is supposed to be casual and was requested and used your own card levels and allowed you to earn chests to level those cards. I played 2v2 mostly with ladder together, and now it was ruined over the years Also they say they want you to use different decks but removed 2v2 for earning chests so we can't use 2v2 to learn different decks. I learned fast cycle, log bait and graveyard through 2v2.

I'm curious. I understand all the other things, but why don't people like that 2v2 is capped at level 11? In my opinion, that's a really good thing. Party Modes needs to be returned to the main menu ASAP with the ability to earn crowns and chests. For F2P casuals, the Chest Cycle was something like 38%!!! of your progression!

Here is my story: I deleted clash a couple of years ago and play Brawl Stars which is honestly the best mobile game. I spent years upgrading cards and making my own unique deck nobody else used that got me to almost 7k trophies and then all CR does is buff and nerf those cards every other month. I spent my time and money into a game that cancels all your hard work and releases new cards to get you to spend more money. After I deleted it I never looked back because I knew it was going down and I had already wasted enough of my life on a stupid game that fks over its customers. (Highly recommend Brawl Stars, it is the perfect game for both fun and competitive purposes)

Well, the case is different for me, I actually hated Brawl Stars from the moment they introduced the totally new box-less system. Earlier, I would be so excited to open those Big, Small and Mega boxes knowing that the outcome would be totally random! But now, to get the latest Legendaries, I need to have to grind for a long time in order to 'choose' one of them myself, which is just stupid. They could have just increased the odds of getting different brawlers or increased the value/quantity of their rewards, but now I know what brawler I am going to get, which is no longer fun. According to me, all of Supercell's games are becoming more Squeezy and Money Grabbing. The value from almost all their games is decreasing.

Hey Gratz, I hadn't played Clash Royale in over five years, but your great videos gave me interest in trying the game again. Something that immediately shocked me is that during that time I stopped playing, the Witch, a card that was obtained in the tutorial, is now only available on Arena 6! And it's not only the Witch, now you can only obtain legendary cards on Arena 11! What is the fanbase consensus about that arena overhaul? I would love to see a video talking about that.

Level 15 could be a bit more interesting if you can only get one level 15 card in your deck at a time, the rest get level capped to 14. In some ways insanely broken, as suddenly a bunch of core interactions shift around, but with that the skill level and deck variety would increase, and you would only need one level 15 in each max deck.

I have been playing clash for 7 years i would just chill and do 50-70 2v2 a day fulling my chests and crowns, it was also a great way me and my partner could just relax and play in our free time. Since this update I probably just do 2-3 battles, i have no motivation to play this game, honestly a big slap in the face for F2P and casual players who just wanna full their slots without the headache of competitive ladder. I came back to this game towards the end of 2022 i wanna say around august, september and honestly, i was really surprised with how good of a state clash royale was in. it gave people coming back a solid way to catch up and it was really friendly to both competitive and casual players. they had a good amount of content with challenges, clan wars, party mode and ladder and honestly thats all i needed. even when i had a ton of free time to just sit down and clear everything, I still had a few more things to complete. this update really just killed my motivation to play. path of legends feels impossible unless you spread out your upgrades, pass royale doesnt feel rewarding and i'm definitely NOT buying it after the nerf. 2v2 doesnt even earn me chests so i sit at 0 chests at all times now. i quite literally open the game to get my free shop item and donate and close it now. honestly not even sure a fix would bring me back. looking at the icon just makes my blood boil. way to ruin the game supercell. keep lying to yourself about why you make changes.

I think casual players like myself can relate to everything that you are saying. The pass was worth it for only $5 per month and the rewards are good especially if you have high level cards. After the update Im just gonna go play and use my attacks on our clan then take the daily reward. This update was the final nail in the coffin for me when it came out. After playing very actively for 3+ years and being co-leader in a high ranking (local list) clan I had gotten quite tired of the game already, especially clan wars 2 which I was more or less forced to play four days a week. Since this update also made it pretty clear that CW2 wasn't going to be improved for a while I decided to quit, and I haven't looked back since. I hope the game will get improved again in the future though, because at its core it is still great

I think a major problem the game has is the fact it contains an exponential leveling system, that was only slightly reduced when card level 14 released. I feel this is why the Books became so powerful, when you take into account the card number required to upgrading common card level 12 to 13 is twice as large as that of common card level 11 to 12; and as for legendaries, the card number needed for the penultimate level is half of that needed to reach level 13 to 14. Of course, my main thought to part of this cause is because the game wants to give people a hook to engage into the game, thus the very small thresholds early on, but that doesn't change the fact that card levels 1-10 have thresholds that increase exponentially, and even at level 10, the card and gold requirement is simply a fraction of that needed to upgrade a card to max level. This is why the Magic Items were so powerful. However, I feel that greed is the real motive here. If the devs really wanted to fix the problem of having high level cards anihilate early level players, they would have done something to prevent low level players from unlocking a champion via diamond pass early in the game and impliment a card level upgrade cap, similar to that of Clash of Clans, so that card levels don't exceed that of the king's Tower Power. That would have cut the rush and allowed people to take their time and focus on more than 8 cards, but since they allow players to have max level cards without any restrictions, the only gain I can possibly think of is that it may result in Clash Royale grossing more money. Of course; the ultimate decision is that the developers need to make a choice: Make a good game, or good money, and I feel like they chose the "Good Money" option here. And honestly, aside from the UI, I'm not seeing many changes to the game overall, if the developers don't want to work on the game that much, just file in a resign and let someone who will actually care about the game take the job instead. Or will they not want to do that since having this job will give them more money and less work? Anyways; here's the stuff I'll weed out that went wrong with the update and my thoughts on how it can be improved: Season Tokens: RIght now, they appear to be grind-focused, for those that do not know, Season Tokens unspent at the end of a season are converted 1-to-1 for gold. I feel this is a bad idea with the season shop as it appears to punish players that don't want to play the game every day without having to spend gems (which you only get a hundred per month for free without masteries) or focus on the pass. I would simply impliment a cap of like 50,000 season tokens per account and let the tokens carry on over seasons. That way players can save up their tokens to focus on something they appear to be interested on, rather than not engaging at all finding nothing really interesting to gain from the season shop. Pass Royale: Gold Crates are undefined numbers, and the value from the gold pass is *insert profanity here*. Plentiful Gold Crates has a value range from 2,000 to 5,000 coins, which is a massive desparity when it comes to value. Rather, instead of rewarding gold crates via the pass, just give the players a fixed ammount of gold. The gold crates were only introduced to help late-game players in progression back in 2021, I don't get why now they're being treated as a common reward. Additionally, Diamond Pass needs more USP to motivate players into buying it rather than just an animated banner and a royal wild chest. Same for the Gold pass as well. The pass is meant to give a good enough value to break the F2P resistance in a player's mind; now I feel that the offers have become increasingly more mediocre that F2P players aren't going to feel tempted to spend money anytime soon, and minnow may lose motivation into spending more money in the game. And to put that into perspective, the other player types; Dolphins and Whales make up less than 2% of all players in a Mobile game; and it seems that the developers are trying to design their game to make reaching their finish line acheivable for Dolphins and Whales only; which of course is bad as it won't really give people experienceing the game for the first time a strong motivation to play the game competitively unless they feel the value is worth the money they are going to invest. Personally, I would apply a season progression boost of some kind (like rewarding extra crowns) for the Paid pass users, and why not give Diamond Pass users the Gold Pass for free for the following season. TL;DR, the Developers really suck at their job. They are trying to sap money so desperately that their greed has become obvious. The new Gold pass and Diamond Pass do a very bad job motivating players to buy them, having very few Unique Sellling Points, and it seems that the developers have the mindset that simply adding new levels will sucsessfully generate them more money (if that's the case, just add level 20 already!). This treatment is an insult to Supercell, and management better get their act up otherwise Clash Royale is going down, and will defimate the other titles as well.

So far the only Supercell game that has managed to keep itself consistently good is Brawl Stars. I can't speak for Clash of Clans as I don't play that game. But Brawl Stars Dev Team is miles better than whoever running Clash Royale over there. Yeah I know Brawl Stars has made mistakes before, the Gear Update was bad and had to be reworked to what we have today. But Brawl Stars has been doing really well, removing Boxes and now reworking Star Points into a free currency you could use to buy cosmetics. Amazing. And the game has consistent updates. Adding new Brawlers every few months Clash Royale is the exact opposite, so far 2023 is looking to be it's worst year, this Update really is for Losers. Everyone Loses. Even Supercell

What you also didnt mention in regards to the new pass is the bonus bank, although its not alot of gold just having something that your crowns are going to is nice. I have already completed the pass and now it seems like I have nothing to do in the game, the events feel unrewarding just doing 2-3 battles every day seems like a drag and if the gamemode sucks like I felt with super archers it makes it more annoying then fun

I didn't know about LvL 15 coming until today, but that's because I found this channel two days ago and reinstalled after not playing since 2017. It's super disheartening to hear, considering I already lose games to LvL 14 cards in the Trophy Road and worry about the level cap in the Path of Legends as someone with a LvL 11-12 deck. I think they just need to change some requirements for card leveling. Maybe cut back the card and definitely cut back the gold requirements and prevent people from leveling up until they complete a certain level of mastery progress. Otherwise leveling things up is nothing but a chore in which the only joy to come of it is when it is over and done.

Yeah, like in clash of clans building up town hall to a certain point has been reduced like more than a half only for lower TH players keeping up with the new content a lot faster. The cost of upgrading and time for everything in lower Town Halls (including walls) has been significantly reduced so the experience of leveling them up felt better and less grindy

When the update released, I was under leveled in my arena and literally couldn’t progress without gaining 3 levels so I had to blow my entire gold supply on cards I never used and I’m still not even at the level I need to be at…

In my opinion you spoke to little of the change on the path of legends to megadraft, which made it really bad to players with low level non main cards, almost unplayable, coupled with the removal of the party mode chest and crown rewards, made trophy road basically the only method to get chest and crowns, and if you were actually trying to gain trophys to unlock the champions then you were screwed, which is exactly why i quit the game, since getting chests was now a chore instead of a normal thing.

Also, i'd like to point out a few things that are just different to clash of clans progression system: Your townhall level heavily influences the possible opponents you can face in matchmaking (yes when it takes too long the pool can sometimes be widend to allow for higher townhall differences, e.g. if a townhall 12 is at around 4800 trophies they might be facing much higher leveled townhalls). On top, your townhall level caps your progress: it is impossible to upgrade things beyond a certain level unless you upgrade your townhall (resulting in a more balanced system where townhall level is a better indicator for "fairness" than kings level in clash royale). Furthermore, each new townhall update has not just had massive cost reductions for lower townhalls but also has been able to maintain active and competitive communities of townhall X, as each town hall feels and plays differently (of course many skills learned in one townhall are applicable to the others too, but interactions do indeed change between townhall levels due to new troops, spells, heroes, pets, siege machines, defenses, etc.) Additionally upgrading defenses and troops usually only makes them marginally stronger and also different levels interact fairly similarly with other things, while in clash royale level differences can interact wildly differently (e.g. if ice golem can kill skeletons or not makes a huge difference; clash of clans has much fewer of those arms race interactions)

They also removed the ability for a friend to give you cards from a higher arena. Normally this would be fine, but since they didn’t do Jack to people who traded for earlier cards, other now have a more flexible deck than others. Not to mention the fact you can now spend money to get a Champion easily is going to be a nightmare for people new to the game.

An easy way to help fix matchmaking with levelling is just cap card levels based on king tower level. For example, if you're king level 11, you can't upgrade cards past level 12. That way, they can base matchmaking on king tower levels, and itll be much more fair.

What you need to take into consideration with new ranking system is that people just genuinely enjoy playing a set number of cards, they don't like diversity, they enjoy being good at 1 specify deck.And removing that option is just discouraging for such players.

I really like that draft is now in the path of champions, it made the game so much fun for me. Now I can try new cards/combos that I couldn´t before because I didn't have those cards to max level every match feels fresh and I feel like I'm learning more in how to use those cards and also learning how to counter them. I like and dislike that the cards are based around the level I have them, but I also had gold saved cause I didn't know what cards to upgrade since my main deck was already maxed out. I think in the long run it would be better that all cards are the same level even if you don't have them that way. But I loved playing draft, makes every match more unique imo (even when they last twice as long cause you're choosing cards lol)

Another thing I just found out (maybe it was added after I don’t know) is that you cannot enter higher Arenas without a certain King Level. I’m a free-to-play player and my deck is already maxed at Level 14, but I have been saving tons of gold for the Level 15 update. However, even though I’m at 7500 trophies, I can’t enter the highest arena because my King Level is too low. Yet another way that they’re trying to force players to upgrade cards beyond their main decks and drain their resources

I just thought about this regarding lvl 15 & clash of clans. Whenever a new the is added to clash of clans, the costs and upgrade times at lower levels is reduced so that the lower levels can progress faster towards that max. Perhaps Supercell could decrease the gold requirements to upgrade card levels, so that the gold problem doesn't get worse.

Afaik, they did decrease the gold costs as well when they added Level 14. One of the main reasons why Lvl 14 was still badly received, is because shortly before that was a big Gold Event before people even knew Level 14 was coming.

Idk if adding more cards is really a good thing, I feel like there’s already too many. More variety is good but I think that should come from game modes. The more cards there are means more counter options and that means even more control SC has in dictating who wins the game via deck advantage which then means less skill involved which is taking away player control of their performance which is THE cardinal sin for ALL forms of gaming. NEVER take away player control, but they’ve been controlling your wins via matchmaking for years so it’s nothing new, it’s just that having more cards let’s them control the balancing even more so they can control your wins even more consistently. And don’t even bother saying they don’t control that, it’s painfully obvious, and when you notice it it really takes away any motivation to keep playing. Same shit as SBMM in cod.

Tbh, as a FTP player that took a massive 2-year break, there are so many more unintended side effects. I had left right after Mother Witch and Electro Giant was introduced, and came back around 3 weeks ago (because of your videos!). That first week was fantastic, getting back into the game, unlocking all the new cards, etc. But then the update dropped. I didn’t 2v2 much nor did I pay for Pass Royale, so those changes didn’t affect me too much, but what did was the massive amount of people dropping the game. That meant that the remaining players around my trophy range are running maxed decks. Me personally, I had only just gotten my main deck to level *13* two days ago. I’m not a bad player; I can consistently win when levels are capped. It feels like before the update, most players I faced had maxed cards, but now, I’m practically only facing those with level 14 cards, and the release of level 15 will only exacerbate the problem. It made me remember why I quit in the first place: playing the game started to feel more like a chore than it was fun. When I quit, I had felt like collecting the chests and always unlocking one was a tedious chore that if I didn’t do, would set me back way too far. That combined with the toxic emote culture made me frustrated. Coming back to the game, I made a promise to myself to not stress about chests and to play with emotes mostly muted, and it seemed to do the trick. The game was enjoyable again. But now, it’s starting to become frustrating again. I’d rather have new cards than more levels. With new cards, it gives people more to spend their gold and time on, without making people like me feel outclassed because we don’t spend money on things like gold and cards.

To be honest I think mega draft ladder is a step in the right direction. It allows for a break from the same old decks in trophy road with all level 14s. Now people have to adapt their created decks to what the other person has picked and gives a sense of a rewarded win rather than winning with and against the same meta deck. I just hope next season isnt 2v2 as it will ruin the skill feel to clash royale with luck that you have a versitile teamate.
