I have to say, this really shows the current priorities within Supercell HQ; they don't care when bugs affect game performance (unless it's actually game-breaking *cough cough* evo firecracker), but when something pops up that lowers their profits a single bit, they hop on it ASAP and ban anyone exploiting it. To be fair, even with their hyper-monetization on CR they're still actively losing money (for clarification check out CWA's video on Squad Busters soft launch). I'm not saying what they're doing to the game is justified, only that they're starting to run out of options to make profits go up, and the lack of new games from them is only worsening the situation for them.

Brawl Stars had a bug that accidentally gave players extra progression back when credits became a thing (people could claim credits for boxes and brawlers they had already got on trophy road). Rather than banning people who had got this glitch, they gave every single player thousands of credits as compensation (I think I got around 2000- which is enough for two epics or one mythic)

This whole situation is so funny to me because I discovered this bug day 1 without realizing it. I did not have internet on and I was able to repeatedly open up the mystery box but they hadn't increased the chances by then so I got common after like 10 tries and I just assumed that it wasn't actually bugged. If I had gotten luckier and realized it could be exploited then I would have done it more and I would have ended up banned.

Apparently this seems to be an unpopular or hot take, but using a bug to make progress that would have otherwise taken months or much longer absolutely constitutes at least a month ban. Although supercell hasn't treated other bugs as harshly, none of them have allowed players to make such significant progress, and it's not like they don't treat other offenses far too harshly like account sharing which is normalized in other games. Imo this is the ideal outcome the scummy players get to suffer and supercell gets a lot of hate and will likely lose a lot of revenue. :D

I agree that a ban is fair. A perma-ban? Absolutely not. And let's not forget that they had the creator code bug where no revenue was going to the creators, and they took their time to fix it. I get what you’re saying about 2 birds 1 stone, like both glitch abusers and supercell both take an L, but if supercell wasn’t so greedy/scummy, there wouldn’t be as much of a reason to glitch. The boxes absolutely suck. The drop rates are so terrible. I’ve gotten a legendary book one time, outside of that one time, I’ve gotten 95 percent common and rare like 3 times. No exaggeration. If supercell just ignored the lucky drop bans than nobody would have said anything about the previous exploits getting unpunished. If you choose to cheat/exploit than you must be quiet if you be caught. The exploiters chose to open themselves up to punishment. If you got banned than you must be quiet about supercell bieng greedy when you chose to be more greedy when supercell offered free to play gamers a great update. Actions have consequences if you're over the age of 18 than nobody should be crying about this.

Totally agree, and even though Supercell is losing out on potential revenue due to the exploit, the bigger problem is people abusing the glitch and having an advantage over those who had no idea the glitch existed in the first place

Looks like Supercell responding that those permanent bans are due to system error and they reverted those back to temporary ban 31 days

I think that banning forever is harsh, but maybe it somehow correlates with what other players will get, because I've opened every single lucky drop since the update (around 30) and I haven't gotten any epic or legendary drops. It's about 0.0254% change of happening.

It seems that games sometimes have issues with airplane mode. There was a similar ban in a Dragonball game named "Dokkan Battle" that gave characters near-infinite stats for the duration of the battle.

just one thing, they cant track what people got from those drops and even if everyone told them it would be too much work for them and they dont have to belive players they told truths so there is no solution to that, they may have player account statistics from earlier patch when there was not this bug but it is just maybe

I have done that bug with gold crate but it just shows cards twice . We don't get double cards

They did a permanent band because it takes a lot to go into making a game like this and creating optional upgrades like book of books getting exploited takes out CRL big time cause with that bug being exposed people can just instantly upgrade a maximum amount of cards and supercell loses $$$$millions of dollars essentially, that bug was was a big one in my honest opinion

What if you just had connection issues? There is no way for them to know if you would be performing the bug purposefully.

As a Brawl Stars player I can say thta they're getting more greedy, years before when new brawler came out everyone was like wow because they added something new but now? Every like 50 days you get a new brawler who of course is under paywall for a week and now it's like yeah something new

Ik boss is a CR you tuber but I just had to point this out. A few years ago in BS there was supposed to be a special offer “one mega box and some gold” for $2 but something went wrong and the offer ended up being “140 mega box and some gold” for $2, now imagine every player that bought the offer got a perma ban. Ik it’s no exactly the same situation but BS dev team lost way more money than a couple cards

The thing is it’s technically not even “costing them money” because the rewards people were getting were just upgraded FREE rewards that are already being given away, it’s not like there was a bug to get free items from the shop that people have to pay for to unlock. That would be costing them money because people wouldn’t be spending on things they would have to normally…

It's so wrong to permanently ban people when it was supercell ' s mistake . But at the same time , the content creators who got to know about this should have informed the company asap instead of spreading it to everyone. A 31 day ban and taking back the resources is more than justified.

As a person which i never play clash royale this is harshed punishment. I think same bug happen if i remember in Last Day on Earth (off-topic btw) where trying getting a dog with good skill is turn on airplane mode and check if you got anything good if not then just close a game and connect back to internet and open again and try again. This is similar

Rockstar does this too. Gta online has so many bugs and they leave them in for years. Can't sell your cargo? People using God mode glitches. Random crashes? Missions never ending? Tough luck. But as soon as any glitch that gives players money. BAN THEM IMMEDIATELY FIX IT

So idk about any of this but today while playing ladder. We were in overtime and with like 10-12seconds remaining on my screen my dart goblin connected and I won the game it the end screen animation started and took my cards and the whole troops bar but suddenly out of nowhere the match continued and the opponent was dropping cards while I am unable to absolutely nothing cz my card deck/card bar was gone , and i lost the match. For a hot second I was sooo confused like wtf just happened and then i realised that I lost the game. I have screenshot of that too, i couldn't screenrecord cz it was too quick and I was completely baffled. This game is full of bugs but no way they are going to compensate me right.

This reminds me of Blizzard lol, they also ban players immediatly from WoW by doing smth like killing a boss with an exploit, while literal bots only there to farm as many materials as possible and slow down progress of other players are unharmed

The 31 ban said "repeated offenses will lead to a permanent ban" and they probably used the exploit more than once, leading to a permanent ban
