This is an excellent example of a company making a product so good (pro v2) and then making gimmicky changes just so they can come out with the latest and greatest to get people excited. MJJC r&d team, if you read this, just know that it’s not too late to change out that junk bottle for a high quality HDPE bottle (and hold the paint). Great honest review Keav. Appreciate that and I’m hoping for a bottle change. Talked to them in DM’s and the reasoning was lots of complaints about not being able to see measurements and what’s in the bottle. The only way to get that is clear plastic. I think the listened to a vocal minority based on these comments. They already ah e the S V3 for those that want that though. I told them that as a bad decision.

@@ChiTown-Zal Agreed. Ive been using the v2 for probably 6-8 months daily, dropping, throwing around a bit, etc. It really works. Just need to keep some extra filters and clean the orifice out occasionally.

So many material things we do that with. We all have the ability to choose what we want, but it’s not always what we need. I never question why somebody buys something it’s none of my business. It’s easy for me though I have a good excuse to buy all this stuff for videos. 🤣

The 2.3 got a bad rap over the noise but mine sits on my concrete garage floor next to my Adam’s standard deionizer and sounds much better than that whine from my 2000 psi Ryobi. I don’t find it loud at all but Keav’s setup is much different. His is mounted at ear level on a shelf attached to a wall that I assume is in the garage attached to his house. Probably makes a world of difference.

It doesn’t bother me it’s a pleasant sound, but you can’t argue the DB levels and really the biggest thing is that sound goes a long distance at that DB level. Agreed it sounds better than a Ryobi or even a 2.0. Problem is we are the minority in this conversation. Most hate the noise. 🤣

I understand the troubles that people are going through. I own the pro 3.0 and as far as changing the direction of the spray pattern and how its very loose making it a two hand operation... basically the fix for that is adding a bigger o-ring to add more resistance when turning the sleeve so the front should be less loose to change the degree pattern while the back should hold its position better when rotating the front sleeve.

Also HDPE foam cannon bottles are less than $1 wholesale, so prob a small fraction of that as a manufacturer. There was likely way higher costs here in the additional process of painting the bottle both operational and material, as well as mold costs for a distinct bottle, which that is near the 10k range, so logically idk why they did what they did.

Marketing and design making final decisions I bet. You know engineers have a wish list and cost associated they are told you have to sacrifice some stuff to meet targeted retail pricing. Then marketing is like and you have to use this bottle no questions asked.

Its crazy to me that it gets applied to items specifically like this from where it is known that the cost to manufacture is sub $10 and they make hand over fist on the product, because in this case they aren't passing those exponential margins to who they wholesale to unlike the other chinese manufacturers that will wholesale at $6-15

Quick Connect twist on is great improvement. When I spin the top off my MJJC Pro V2, the soap hanging at the tip of the nozzle flies everywhere driving me crazy. However not a fan of the painted container.

Great video Mike! $110 is a new price tier for foam cannons. Even with a tougher bottle, the rest doesn’t really provide any extra value that $80-$90 cannons provide. Maybe the dual threading? This is a hard sell, I don’t think it’s worth it over the V2. $20 bottle replacements and $10 o-rings on those bottles, it’s robbery.

Griots at one point was $110 when it first came out if I remember correctly and still a $100. Pretty soon we’ll see an MJJC bottle subscription service. Since they seem to be disposable. 🤣

You can get the foam you need at any cost if you can measure the dilution rate the foam cannon is working at and adjust the water in your mix to compensate.

Excellent video. I love the drop tests you do. I have dropped foam cannons before thankfully I didn’t drop the clear bottle yet. I have two of those and I’m not going to get this one. But I have got a quick question. What orifice would you use With the 3000 psi green works. Crappy that the machine has to run all the time, but it gets great flow. Using this until I move to my new place. Again great video. That bottle is brittle and weak for a pro. Also I agree it should totally be stainless steel.

You should be good with a 1.35 nozzle which are hard to get sometimes. Usually you have to go up to a 1.40. Willing to bet a 1.25 should work fine as well.

Just used my new Pro V2 yesterday. Out of the box with my 1650psi / 1.2 gpm pressure washer, the Carpro Reset foam was awesome. HDPE is the material of choice for strength, impact resistance and overall durability. Someone really screwed up changing from that! I guess the Project Brief was to provide more clarity for the liquid level and create a fancy looking bottle. HDPE isn't easily paintable, like polypropylene. The paint will eventually come off. I had a visibility issue once on a coolant expansion tank I designed. To pass the fatigue testing, the thickness had to increase and coolant level visibility was really poor. Design is always a compromise!

Agreed, but you can make HDPE in different colors like firework mortars are black HDPE. I think as well the attempt was to make an easier viewing window for the measurements.

You can’t go wrong there. Just put 20% less water in you dilution and you’ll have the same foam as MJJC and same amount of time to empty the bottle.

@@DMCnME I had 2 Griot’s and they both failed after only a few uses. Output got real watery using Adam’s Mega Foam. Switched to Adam’s (still works great) but I’m now rocking the new Active FC. WAY better than the other 2. A few years back, I bought a FC from Harbor Freight and it worked better and lasted longer than the Griot’s. Go figure! Can’t go wrong with MTM, MJJC 2.0, or Active or even Adam’s. Good luck!

Can’t go wrong with the Griots. You can get the same foam as the MJJC. Just use 20% less water in you mix with the same amount of soap. That should make close to the same dilution at the manifold. That’s how they get the foam it pulls the soap faster.

Good point you made Keav, about not needing to change the 1.25 orifice on an MJJC with a lower end pressure washer. I have one Pro V2 and two MTM PF22.2, to get good foam from the MTMs, i've had to swap to a 1.1mm orifice. Im hoping MTM finally get their act together and bring out a new verison. Appreciate that! Just remember you can make that MtM foam the exact same by using 20% less water in your dilution. Just use the same amount of soap. That would get you at the same dilution MJJC is getting.

I expect the reason it's so well packaged is to stop the bottle from breaking in the mail! I've got a Pro V2, which does an excellent job. If MJJC supplied an UNBREAKABLE transparent bottle with the V2, so you could see how much was in the bottle, it would be a no brainer.

@ Performance will be the exact same as the S V3 and the Pro V2 will be just slightly less, but really you wouldn’t be able to tell. It’s more about what functions you are looking for quick connect neck vs durable bottle.

I have the Pro V. 2 and I bought it because I like the durable bottle. The new Pro V. 3 with that weak bottle is a downgrade. Didn’t the clear bottle on the S V. 3 perform better in the drop test?

Yes the S V3 bottle performed better, but the manifold broke on a drop as well. Hoping they just come out with an improved bottle and replace them.

I’m not 6 foot tall and it’s dropped from shoulder height which is maybe about 5 feet. It perfectly shows what can happen if you put this on a shelf and it drops off. I myself have never dropped one, but have had several fall off my shelf and break in some way. Some of these videos the comments will tell you these get dropped quite often and break which is why I do it to show durability. Not sure a bottle that breaks first drop from 5 feet multiple times should be called anything “PRO”.

Hey Keav great video I’m glad I grabbed a Pro V2. I had two problems though. I had a bottle of Meguiars Gold class car wash and shampoo I never used so thought I’d try it. I put 1 oz and filled up to full with warm water. It actually made pretty good foam but sucked it up really fast. Where should I dial the top knob all the way down or up? The second problem was that I just foamed and let set a few minutes and rinsed off. After my truck dried I noticed that the black plastic steps and black mud gaurds and the the black plastic trough under the windshield wipers especially turned a light gray color and now looks oxidized. I tried cleaning off but it’s not residue it’s like the soap bleached my trim pieces. I contacted Meguiars and they said no way that soap could cause that damage and said it’s basically no stronger than hand soap. Do you have any idea what could have caused it to turn gray like that?

Wow, I’m not really sure as Gold Class isn’t a strong soap and shouldn’t do that. That’s usually what a high alkaline cleaner would do to trim such as Super Clean. Other thing is something like Gold class most use more than an ounce. Usually two or 3 ounces. All the way to the right is full foam and what everybody uses. To the left just adds more water. Hopefully somebody else in the comments might be able to help out more. Maybe try some panel prep to get it off. I have used that on wheels where a cleaner goes dried in there.

@@CarsWithKeav yeah it’s weird because only the black plastic steps on my black step rails and the mud flaps and that piece under the wipers between the windshield and the hood were affected. The black bed caps , tailgate gaurd and black steps on the rear bumper, front bumper trim and side view mirrors weren’t affected. I’m guessing they are made with a different type plastic or something. The piece under the wipers was most noticeable and Im guessing it’s because it’s where the soap was caught and pooled up the most. I’m not sure but I’ve never had any other soap do that and have no clue what else it could have been. I may have actually used 2 ounces but I was thinking 1 oz. Either way the soap isn’t suppose to be strong enough to do that.

Griots website has the metering tips for $6. I don’t use metering tips, but I know many who use the Griots for that. You can put the metering tips in the siphon tube and it will work that way.

@@CarsWithKeav One thing concerning me is that using a high-flow machine like the Active 2.3 could potentially add more stress to the motor. I chatted with MJJC officials in China, and they suggested turning the knob of the foam cannon to the minimum setting. They also mentioned that they plan to eventually replace the brass connection with stainless steel. So, it might be a good idea to hold off on buying this cannon for now.

@@bwilliam4023 So you mean the orifice nozzle? I thought you meant auto mix siphons. In that case Active 2.3 ships with a 1.45. I used the Active one in the video. If you call them they will sell you one and soon their website will have them for sale. It’s possible adjusting the knob might help a little, but then foam will not be good. Plus the nozzle is before their adjustment and the hole in the nozzle determines the stress on the machine.

Very nicely presented, informative and impartial video. I’m surprised with what is a relatively basic piece of equipment, MJJC appears to maintain an advantage over the competition. One small point: Mixing US gallons with metric appears to overcomplicates calculations.

@CarsWithKeav - Do you have a vid explaining amps? I just look at PSI to determine orifice size for pressure washing, but foam cannon orifice size based on amps is something i hadnt heard of

@@xx-ev2sq I don’t have a video, but anytime you make a hole smaller the machine has to work harder it pulls amps in order to meet the demand. Most machines are rated for a 15 amp circuit so I check the amps to make sure it’s the rating for the machine. The lower the better and the motor will last longer. Too much amps and you can burn the motor up. Say an Active 2.3 is already pushing a lot of water so use an orifice too small it will spike amps. A Ryobi with less water flow doesn’t stress the machine as easily. I use this from Amazon to measure my amps. amzn.to/3ZRRya9

that bottle makes this an immediate no go for me. I would go through 100 of those a year. I drop my foam cannon multiple times a day. I really like my pro v2, but I guess my only annoyance is the range for the spray pattern. The widest is wide enough to foam your barn down, so Id like to see that be a smidge narrower for the widest point. Second is I would like to see the same 1/4 turn bottle like the pro v3. That is about the only thing I miss from my old MTM foam cannon.

@ Took a turn for the worse for MJJC. You did an honest review and I for one wouldn’t want something so brittle especially for that price. They had to have checked this on their end, right?!?! If so, then it was a cash grab until people found out how cheaply made the bottle was or they simply failed to test the durability. Not sure what scenario is worse. Either way it’s a bad look and I for one will never buy one of their products until reviews come out. I’m generally careful with my stuff. However an empty drop and it completely shatters is unacceptable for a pro model. I agree with the little bit of brass as well on the head. They clearly wanted to go for a certain look but didn’t go all the way. I do like the dual threads so I can use a foam bottle straight onto the head

I have a theory...their ploy is for this video to come out, boost sales of the V2, and then when stock of that runs out, they re-release the V3 with a better bottle. Outside chance they send everyone who has already bought the V3 at that point the upgraded bottle.
