Still a lot of engines with C&NW livery in this video. My father worked for C&NW for all of my childhood, until the UP bought them out when I was nearly on my own. I have a fondness in my heart for that old C&NW logo and colors.

It's now called the Kearney Subdivision from North Platte to Gibbon Jct. It still has three main lines (with concrete ties and 140lb rail) and they've installed 10,000 ft sidings between crossover locations. About 100 to 140 trains traverse this area and Bailey Yard has two classification yards (one for eastbound traffic and one for westbound traffic) and it's CTC-ATC.

Thank you!!!! I'll be honest with you, I just wish I would have spent more time shooting this one when I did it back in 97. I feel it could have been better, and some of my angles weren't to my approval now. But I am so glad I did it then, and I am more happy that there are viewers like you who enjoy it. So thanks again!

As an old curmudgeon all I see is a bunch of switch engines switching around a crap load of freight cars . If it ain't got a caboose on it, it ain't a freight train! Yeah, I'm kidding. But I really do miss the caboose.

0:50 "Viewing many run-bys in the Sandhills region" I don't think so -- the Sandhills are farther north, aren't they? The BNSF line to Alliance, seen in the map at 0:22 goes through the Sandhills; the UP line runs in the space between the North and South Platte Rivers.
@CVisionProductions1
@CVisionProductions1 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the misinformation. What was explained to me when we produced this video 26 years ago that the are around North Platte and Brady was in the southern end of the sand hills.
@CVisionProductions1
@CVisionProductions1 6 ай бұрын
I know this has been a while, but in research, our narration is correct. If you look at the map, you will see that the Sandhills Region does extend south into the UP mainline area. www.britannica.com/place/Sand-Hills
