I'm new to weaving (using both a frame and a RH loom). I was inspired by the effect clasped weaving has on the overall work, seeing countless fiber artists on IG showing off their projects incorporated on bags and pillows. Just gorgeous. Thank you for sharing! This will be extremely helpful for someone like me who is completely new.

I love all of your videos! They are clear, logical, and approachable. I am planning to buy a rigid heddle loom soon and I am excited by your various techniques and ideas. The patterns seem complicated but the process is surprisingly easy once you see how to do it. Thank you so much, and God bless!

I don’t have a loom (yet!) but I keep watching KZbin videos just to see if it is something I would like. Your videos are so great! I am glad you mentioned Bendigo Woolen Mills, I will be visiting Melbourne and Bendigo with my family and June and I was planning on going to the mills store to get some yarn. Any other great yarn places to visit Down Under?

I have a suppliers list here if that helps - kellycasanovaweavinglessons.com/weaving-suppliers-lis/ There is also Unwind in Melbourne - www.unwindcraftcafe.com.au And Wool Baa www.woolbaa.com.au There are other little shops that I've probably missed, but I buy all of my weaving supplies online, so don't visit yarn shops much.

Your videos are always so clear and easy to follow. I want to try this method using 8/2 cotton to make some napkins. Will the thinner yarn make it harder to do this pattern?
@KellyCasanova
@KellyCasanova 3 жыл бұрын
Interesting question! I have only done clasped WARP with 8/2 sized yarn (bamboo and tencel) and it looks awesome - haven't used a thinner yarn for clasped WEFT though. If you give it a try, I'd be most interested to know how it turns out 😉
@lizgamelin

I successfully made the napkins using this clasped warp method! I used 8/2 cotton for both warp and weft on a 12.5 dent heddle on an Ashford 20” Knitters loom. I wish there were a way to share a picture. Thank you for the encouragement to give this a try.

This has happened to me too - it's about the arrangement of the threads at their meeting point, where they intersect. You may find that it only happens when you're in a certain shed. I just played around with different sheds and meeting points to smooth out the bumps.

Maybe you could use a stitch marker on the warp thread where you go in and out of. with the shuttle.

Kelly, does the fabric end up thicker or do the yarns sit on top of each other (as though 2 rows)?
@KellyCasanova
@KellyCasanova 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is thicker but it's not "over the top thick". It does depend on the yarn you use too 😊
@wjm1319
@wjm1319 3 жыл бұрын
Very cool technique. But I think I'd tie a marker string around the top bar of my heddle to indicate the entry/exit point of the middle thread. Eventually you'll run out the length of your 'tattle tail'.

How would I do a piano keyboard pattern in clasped weft pattern?
@clrose79
@clrose79 4 жыл бұрын
Barbara Rickman You definitely could. She does a great single color clasp weft video and that would seem perfect for a keyboard pattern
@freddietreehugger8144

I think for the white keys you'd need only 1 big ball of white and plenty of black yarn for the black keys. Then perhaps another color on each end for the background? Piano wood color? Not sure, but it would add some extra color to do that if you want more than black and white.

Love this, but I've somehow screwed up and can't figure out how to fix it. I go to the left, under the yarn, back thru to the right, under that yarn, and come back to the center point. Put the reed up, but now when I go to place the shuttle to the left the yarn yarn covers 2 of the weft! Can you help?
@KellyCasanova

Just so that you know, clasped weft does cause the weft to double up - that is normal.

Nice .. How can i do this on a 4 shaft floor loom
@KellyCasanova
@KellyCasanova 2 жыл бұрын
It's just plain weave, so you would warp for plain weave and then follow the instructions for clasping. Alternatively, you can warp your loom to weave a pattern but incorporate clasped weft into that.
