I am giving you the easiest solution for the last Q ( you might feel discouraged to read such a long solution but trust me its damn simple I have written it in many steps for clarity.) :D answer = option D method: we should first know the formula { I = m (r)^2 } step 1: in the question, I of A and I of B will anyhow equal 0 because r = 0 step 2: now the problem is very simple because we have to find I only for C step 3: turn the triangle making side with masses A, B as the base then C will be at the top step 4: we know that a perpendicular line from C will divide the base (AB) into 2 equal halves i.e L/2 (mathematical property of triangles) step 5: now using the basic Pythagoras theorem we can solve for perpendicular distance assuming it as x step 6 : L^2 = (L/2)^2 + x^2 step 7 : from here you will get x^2 = 3/4L^2 substitute this back in the formula and you will get 3/4 ML^2 as the answer

The two masses I will be 0 remaining mass I will be m × perpendicular distance. That is height of triangle and it's √3 L/2. I = 0+0+m×(√3 L/2)^2=3/4mL^2 So I = 3/4(mL^2)

@@mohithm7130 what he means to say is the for masses on axis its would be = 0 now ONLY one mass would be left for that we need to find the perpendicular Distance from the axis which if you see if the height of the equilateral triangle=√3/2L so Moment of Inertia = M(√3/2L)² which becomes 3ML²/4
@geetanjali6484
@geetanjali6484 5 жыл бұрын
@@mohithm7130 And if that isn't understandable then if you would see the perpendicular Distance would be equal to Lcos30° which is also equal to √3/2L 30° because it's a equilateral triangle thus angle = 60° half of which is 30° Hope you understood it

Draw a line at C parallel to line passing from axis AB and take angle OCA 30° ( ½ of 60° ) and angle of imaginary line also 30° ( alt. int. angle ) . Then find components - Lcos30° = L√3/2 and this is equal to OC. So r of OC is L√3/2 and MOI = mr² = M(L√3/2)² . Final answer = ML²3/4

For everyone who's struggling to solve last question, actually its kinda tricky so you might find it hard at first but iA I'll make it easy for u. So basically we have to find MOI of mass at C(m3) bcz other 2 are lying on the axis of rotation and we know that when a mass is lying on AOR its MOI is 0. Now net MOI will be determined by m3. So r for m3 is a perpendicular drawn from AB to C. If you do that u can see that we've got vector L divided in its perpendicular components. And the compound adjacent to the theta is providing us the required value of r. So its simple just find L cos 30°. I=mr2 =m.((√3/2)L)² = m.3/4L² or 3/4mL² (option D) Hope u got it!! ❤️

One of the easiest way to do the last question is, after you draw a perpendicular line from the point C to the AB line, you drew nothing but the altitude of an equilateral triangle. And as we all have learnt in earlier classes that height or altitude of Eq. ∆ is a√3/2, a being the side. Here our side is L so simply answer is L√3/2. Now in MOI formula I=MR² so just square this => (L√3/2)² = 3L²/4 and multiply it with m (mass). You get answer easily without any calculations at all.

To all those who are asking what is moment of inertia (MOI) it tells us how farther or closer mass is spread from the axis. If moi more then mass is spread over larger distances then more effort will be required to produce rotational motion compared to when mass is spread over smaller distances.i.e. small moi.
