can we apply same logic for explaining the phase change of reflected wave in longitudinal pressure waves sir???its really confusing me..

Sir, if there is a string with free end ( like |__/\__.) and wave is moving towards right and then reflecting from free end, in this case what should we take v2 equal to? ( I first thought zero but that will imply that wave will get inverted after reflection which is not true).. Plz help Sir..

v2 will be the velocity of the medium that is beyond the reflecting boundary

Let's visualize this situation in denser medium particles are more massive ,they have more inertia thus they will move a relatively less (think of a particle on a longitudinal wave such as sound) compared to medium 1 , that means particles of medium 2 will get less compressed. Finally which explains that wavelength will be less in medium 2.

Sir at 3:06 how can the phase difference between incident wave and reflection wave will be pie. As it will be Delta phi = wt-k1x -( wt+k1x+pie)= -(pie+2k1x). Plz clear my doubt sir.

Sir reflected wave is always in dir opp to incident wave so how can it be in same phase with it even if ar is positive?

NO. At 1:45 Sir has written 'if' it is not a conclusion, its simply analysis for refraction of wave from a rarer to denser medium...

Yes... we talk about boundary particles only but thats the point from where reflected and transmitted wave starts...

sir at 3:00 why did'nt we take any other odd multiple of pi why only pi?

It does not affect anything... all odd multiple of pi are considered opposite phase only... And in this case there can be a max delay of half oscillations only thats why we used π

Sound is a longitudinal wave while string wave is transverse... Hence we can't relate it like that
