Sir, when you had written the equation of the reflected ray, how can we say there will be no phase difference?? Agreed that the transmitted ray will have the same phase .......but have confusion about the reflected ray

sir at 5:00 you said at x=0 A+Ar=At does this imply that if we shift the origin the amplitude will change?
@SheryanKumar
@SheryanKumar Жыл бұрын
Hi The eqn, A+Ar=At is valid only for the boundary, because at all other points, say on the left side, the medium particles will oscillate wrt incident and relfected wave, and on the right side the medium particles will oscillate wrt transmitted wave. To maintain equality of the boundary particles, meaning oscillation of the particles be equal to both sides, we have to equate A+Ar=At Upon shifting of origin, only the wave equation of that side will be valid

Sir at 5:28 how can you cancel the sin terms as for yr it is sin(wt+k1x) and for yt and yi it is sin (wt-k1x)?

Sir, In the case when v2>v1 then amplitude of transmitted wave will be greater then that of incident wave ,which means energy increases of transmitted wave will be greater then that of incident wave . so how it is possible ? plz explain sir

Sir,in the above case are we saying that no energy associated with incident ray is absorbed in boundary?
@physicsgalaxyworld

Yes... here we are neglecting absorption...

sir, why the wave number is changing in transmitted wave but not in reflected wave?

Sir Yi+Yr=Yt u substitute corresponding wave equations than cancelled out but wave speed OT transmitted wave is different but why u cancelled out to derive Ai+Ar=At
@SheryanKumar
@SheryanKumar Жыл бұрын
We put x=0 at the boundary, so kx = 0 We are left with sinwt only, and then upon differentiating, we get wcoswt, which we cancel out First we differentiate, then we put x=0

sir can we say trhat the total energy carried by incident + reflected waves = energy carried by transmitted wave ? If yes , can we derive a relation among the incident , reflected and transmitted amplitudes ?

Physics Galaxy sir I know in this video you derived a relation by saying that oscillations of medium particles of the boundary would be the same from the 2 sides and we also equated slope of displacement curve from the 2 sides. I was asking about energy changes that take place in the reflection and transmission process.
@physicsgalaxyworld
@physicsgalaxyworld 8 жыл бұрын
+Gagan Aggarwal Here I have not accounted for energy changes as that requires absorption also to be accounted and details are not in the scope of these lectures... as here we are discussing only upto reflection and refraction....

Sir why amplitude is changing....as it is not a medium property?
@physicsgalaxyworld
@physicsgalaxyworld 7 жыл бұрын
No.. it is the property of source from which waves originates and at the point of medium boundary due to distribution of energy it changes...

Asalam ally kum sir please tell me why slope of displacement curve should remains same
@physicsgalaxyworld
@physicsgalaxyworld 5 жыл бұрын
because the particle on the boundary is oscillating with both the media left and right and it has same velocity and displacement when calculated from right or left... so displacement curve must be smooth at this point...
@SohamChakraborty42069
@SohamChakraborty42069 5 жыл бұрын
If we take one point on the medium boundary whereat one incident wave is incident, and wherefrom both reflected and transmitted waves originate, it is just one point. The slope of a curve at a point cannot be different if calculated differently. So we can equate the two slopes.
