Sadly the track beyond Quainton Road has since been lifted. Don't think there are any plans to put it back at the moment. Not in the short term at any rate.

Imagine when they reinstated the line all the way to bletchley and left that bridge at 8:48 as is. I wonder how much further it can go before running out of track? Need a train with rubber wheels so when the track runs out one can just continue to winslow or bletchley along the trackbed. It would be interesting how far you could get along the varsity line without hitting an immovable obstruction. If you made that a tank you could probably get all the way to cambridge simply by driving over whatever was in the way.

The track should be doubled again frolm Aylesbury station all the way to Quainton Road initially with the idea of running an intensive commuter service from here during the week and a service to the railway centre at the weekends.

my understanding is that once east west is on the way this will be double track and 100mph running through Quainton Road protected with a fence on the platforms

been there twice once when I was 10 they used a class 117 in bluegrey for the shuttle had another unit attached aswell as far as I can remember back in 1987 then went there again in 94, seems like they don't have as much stock as they used to judging by when we were coming into the station

Why so slow - 10 rpm ? ☹️

I always wanted to see what the line to Quainton Road looks like and there is still evidence of the former double track as this was the former Great Central Mainline From Marylebone up to Leicester and beyond.

I remember back in my schoolboy train spotting years a train would come through Aylesbury called “The Master Cutler” which travelled from Marylebone to Sheffield. At that time Sheffield was still famous for stainless steel cutlery, hence the name given to the train.

The rubber frames of the cab windows are quite alarming till you get used to them :-) I presume it's an interaction between the jolting of the train and the camera's image stabilisation. Good to see the route onwards from Aylesbury. I hadn't realised it was double track for so far - is it Rabans Lane bridge where it goes single?

😠 ✅, - image stabilisation left enabled on the camera but not in the editing software/not synced, if it was then the frame of the video would be wobbling. A lot of go-pro camera bloggers make this mistake and have unwatchable footage 😣

yeah it was like watching paint dry had to fast forward it a couple of times myself

Probably fall off the track if it went any quicker. If you watch it at 2x speed you get a normal train journey.
