closest we are gonna get to a a video of class 74 thrash, the class 14s and 74s both used Paxman 6YJ although i think the ones on the class 74s were bigger as the sources i have sound say they used Paxman 6YJXL engines, so im guessing that ''XL'' means its a larger engine overall

The power units on both were the same Paxman V6 unit, they equate to around 42 litres of turbo-driven grunt! The Cl.14's have no mufflers fitted so you get the exhaust note coming straight off the turbos. The increasing howl you can hear from around the 6 minute mark is the sound of the cooling fan increasing in speed as the engine reaches the higher end of it's temperature range and the Serck unit starts doing it's job.
