They are extending the line to double this year, to accommodate hourly services. Hence the footbridge and the large gap next to the track.

Thank god, was an absolute pain waiting nearly 2 hours at Ely just to travel a few miles down 😂

There is no way they will be redoubling the track through Soham in 2022... check Network Rail's website and you'll see they might only make a Transport and Works Act Order application by the end of this year... that's if funding isn't cut in the meantime....

@@scottthompson8386 Permission has been given for a second platform however it is unlikely to happen ever due important mains pipes.
