I think closing the window would allow for better audibility of traction, I've noticed the 365s were quieter than the 465s at higher speeds the motors screamed a bit louder than 365s, the 365s were designed in such a way where only the GTO is really audible then it fades away but the main motor sound isnt really hearable unless you listen hard and close the window for better sound , the motor is audible but is hard to hear

I'm pretty sure all windows were closed but I can't really remember since it was quite long ago. I think the reason the motor is hard to hear in this one is because I sat in the wrong 'area', if I would've sat a tad bit more upfront right next to the rear doors it would've been way louder. Doesn't really matter now since they don't exist anymore sadly

@@DanielGNTrains oh true you may have sat in the middle section beyond the doors , I have a channel myself , I always sit above the bogies, generally, closing the windows and sitting above the motors is likely the way to go on the 365s but yes...sadly they are gone 😭😭

@@DanielGNTrains yeah, I think possibly one of the best combos actually , may be to open a window behind you, and close the rest that way the wind isn't blowing directly in the camera and blacking out the motor sound , ooooor the windows on the opposite seats, I try to do this with the 466s All the time "since 465/9s aren't as common anymore around London and the /2s are gone to storage 😬😬 but 365s were cool, RIP.

Great Northern should of inherited the Class 379 Electrostars from Greater Anglia that are in storage and to use them on London King’s Cross-King’s Lynn, Cambridge, Cambridge North and Ely.

@@DanielGNTrains there were rumours of them being tested, they basically have the same acceleration rate as the 700s tbh and sound the same, meaning the motors may be geared the exact same.

True, atleast they had a good 40 year run unlike the 365s which only ran for about 20+ years before they got scrapped. Wish one 317 would get preserved though but I don't think that'll happen.

@@DanielGNTrains I could tell that the 317s still did have a few years of life left in them. All units had less then a 40 year run because they were introduced in 1983. I don't quite see why they could not go on for at least another 7 or 8 years.

@@waleedarif6740 Yeah I guess, you could tell GA really wanted to get rid of them because all the 7-8 got withdrawn within like a month. Since they now have a whole spare fleet of 720s that gives them an excuse to fully get rid of them. Wish they would’ve ran a bit more :(

Same here, did about 5/6 trips from Liv St. to Hertford and back. Both units sounded absolutely amazing, was quite sad seeing it pull away for the last time

@@AnthonyFurnival Yeah feels quite strange knowing we were in those exact same units a week ago and yeah they'll be going to Ely Papworth to await their doom. I'm assuming they'll first finish with the 455s so they've maybe still got about a month or so, maybe less.

@@AnthonyFurnival Yeah but I don't think that's really GA's priorities, they only really care about getting new stock and getting as much seats as they can in them for more profit. That's why the 720s are extremely basic and have really narrow legroom

I am surprised these have gone so early while there are much older stuff still running. Couldn't Northern have used them to replace 319s, displacing them to be converted to 769s to replace 150s?

Same here, is extremely strange when there’s stock about 15 years old than them still running on mainlines etc. Apparently nobody wanted them after they were withdrawn which is why they’ve all been scrapped (except for one).

@@DanielGNTrains Technically 0.75 survived since there is no PTOSL :(. I don't know why people seem to think replacing rolling stock that still has life left in it with brand new ones is considered environmentally friendly. Which is what I am often told, nobody seems to consider the impact of manufacturing new ones especially with parts shipped from the other side of the world.
