in case you missed my comment on the other page I said a former firefgihter recoomended heat alarms combined with photo electric alarms but I guess the poorman's option if already have photo electric alarms is to put a heat alarm next to each photo? thoughts please thank you I guess its best to have as many heat alarms as possible as it should provide protection for flaming fires ? thoughts please thank you

1) It depends. combination of heat and smoke detectors are not required. Please check the project specifications. However if the end user / Authority Having Jurisdiction insists us to provide then there is no option but to follow them. What type of building is that / room? 2) For flaming fires, normal heat detectors cannot be used. UV / IR detectors must be used and they are very costly.

how to get the value of x and y?

Please draw the detectors in autocad once u get to know the distance between detectors. Then easily u can find x and y values..
