In many natural environments, particularly before 'civilization' exploited each other, and their resources including land, food was abundant. Ponds, lakes, rivers and the seas were full of healthy fish and shellfish (now gone, or too scarce, or too toxic to eat). Flocks of passenger pigeons (better than chicken) darkened the skies in America for a while DAY or longer. Flocks of ducks, geese, and swans filed the skies spring and fall. (Now we complain about geese and ducks fertilizing the grass on golf courses, lawns, and parks- but we want to put down harmful, expensive chemical fertilizers instead.) American chestnuts were about 1/4th of the trees in eastern forests, providing abundant wonderful nuts each autumn. Acorn meal was soaked (easy to do!) and the water poured off to give a nutritious meal. Deer, elk, moose, and bison were abundant. (Think of all the places called 'Buffalo Creek', etc - or Elk this-and-that that have not seen a buffalo (American bison) or elk in 250+ years.) I could go on... The peoples we now know as American Indians worked with the natural world to help build and maintain this abundance, abundance our culture took for granted. And has ignored, destroyed, and polluted. Today, there is still an abundance of food to be found in many areas of the USA, but a lot of it is so polluted that it is unsafe to eat.

Seriously, I'm obsessed with this stuff. Reading "TOX-SICK" by Suzanne Somers. This knowledge needs to be spread to the ends of the earth!

Thank you for sharing your lectures! Very informative and insperational. I have a question. In Herbalism 101, class 2 you mentioned Deer Antlers as remedy which reverces diabetes. Why did you not mention it this time? Is it still good supplement to consider. My friend's husband just came out of diabetic coma - I would like to advice her if it is safe. Many thanks. Svetlana

The book 'Nutrition and Physical Degeneration' by Weston A. Price is another eye-opening book. Among other things, it explodes the myth that our 'modern' society is the best fed society ever. Before the shift to a grain-based diet in 'civilized' cultures, people were actually TALLER, and had better teeth. By the way, Americans are no longer the tallest average height. The people of the Netherlands now tower over us!

The milk and diary products sold in most stores is, at best, a contaminated and damaged version of the food that has sustained health in many populations for thousands of years- most Europeans (cow, goat, and sheep), many in the Middle East (sheep, goat, camel), parts of Asia (water buffalo, goat), the Himalayas (yak, goat), Africa (goat, cow; the Masai lived primarily on milk and blood from their cattle). What did your ancestors thrive eating?
