Nice work. Gives me confidence to tackle this common problem. Many thanks. Pete.

The clicking sound always gives a good indication of the dreaded split gear, Nice fix without taking the whole loco apart. All the best Tony.

Thanks Keith 👍, in a way the hard bit is just remembering the important bits, gear in the middle of the shaft, make sure axles float evenly, make sure pickups are behind the wheels etc... The video editing allows me to make it look easy every time haha 👍

Very good

Intersting. Surely the tightness on shaft is why they split? Theres so little material.
@ThisWayWorksTWW8 ай бұрын
Yes i think from factory they are super tight on the axles and over time just give up and crack. This is why when i put a new gear on i make them still a good fit but under less tension to make them last longer with a drill bit 👍

Worth buying a small worm puller (RC helicopter shops sell, or ebay) - a far more controlled and less risky way to cleanly and reliably pull wheels.

I have some pullers now, no more side cutter method in future videos 👍

Have you worked on the older Graham Farish 4P before?

Hi Great Bear, youve typed 4P, do you mean Poole type 40? If so yes, been playing with a couple of those lately👍

@@ThisWayWorksTWW 1205 BR 4P class tender locomotive from Graham Farish

@@111greatbear3 👍 i havent touched one of those yet im affraid, it looks to me like the tender is maybe even the same as my 4F here on youtube, i suspect the body on the 4P will likely have a screw at the front under the front bogie on the loco that would release the shell if that helps? thats how the 4F i did was holding its body onto the chassis. Maybe have a look at my 4F videos as they may help you, i realise they are different locos but i suspect gf used the same core chassis so motor should be very similar too chap
