Nice explanation but i have one doubt that you said that after output current became zero then capacitor got discharged but how is this even possible as SCR doesnot support conduction in reverse direction. Please explain!

SCR in reverse baising behave like an open circuit and it having high resistance that's why voltage tends to infinite across SCR.

One question. At the end the capacitor is discharging. But the scr is turned off. So how will it discharge as there is no closed path as turned off scr means open circuit

Because inductor energy start to decreasing so current decreasing and capacitor further charge with same polarity

basically it is like natural commutation we are giving an negative pulse to the scr with the help of inductor when the polarites changes it is like an negative halfcycle in the ac sin wave

You can apply DC across L and C elements, where L will act like short circuit and C will act like open circuit as if you connect DC across it.
