For counterspelling, the class feat Clever Counterspell is something only wizards get and I think the feat that makes counterspelling practical.

This feat and Quench make the visuals amazing for me. I love the idea of countering a fireball with a watery sphere, or blocking stuff with walls. Reminds me of the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort in Order of the Phoenix. Now *that's* magic.

That was great!! Almost makes me want to play a wizard...which is really saying something. The staff wizard sounded interesting.

Congratulations on 100+ subscribers ! While I really enjoy watching your podcasts, I noticed that they are getting longer with each new podcast. Try to limit them to 30-45 min, that would be great. Yes, I know... it's hard :-)

I haven't decided which class I'm going to do next for this series, but I have sworn it won't be a spellcaster for that very reason. They just have so much going on! I genuinely dread the day I try to tackle Oracle! I love the class, but it is a complicated ball of insanity! But yeah, planning to try some easier videos for the next few weeks! The last two were really tough to shoot & edit.

Really great video! I love how in depth you get into the fundamentals of the concept. My main character is a wizard and you really got me thinking of ways I can play him and thinking of all the fun flavor I can add to him. Great job!

I like staves and with multiclassing in deadly simplicity, you have a d10 damage weapon, and with staff nexus, you can get alot of true strikes along bespell weapon feat, and maybe use 'magic weapon' early gameplay. Staves later on adds that immediate flexibility wizards usually lack, burning a slot to prepare a number of spells avaible in a staff. One thing I like about 2e is that many undeads now can be affected by mental effects

For the reaction, did you mean Abjuration wizard and Energy Absorption? The Quick Recognition feat is useful here too. Recognize Spell feat also can provide a reaction activity for wizards.
@TheLocalDisasterTourGuide3 жыл бұрын
Oops! I overlooked that one! I'm blanking on the name, but I was referring to the Wizard feat that let's you use a Reaction to prevent people from seeing through your illusions (APG, I think). While its not exactly like requiring two saving throws to beat a spell, its pretty close to that, which is insane!

Convincing Illusion. If the creature only succeeds their Perception or Will, you do a Deception check against their Perception DC.
@nigelgarrett79703 жыл бұрын
Convincing Illusion is not limited to the Illusion school of magic. You do need to be Expert in Deception though.

My problems with Wizards in Pathfinder 2E: 1.) For all the vast number of wizard spells that are available, a staggering number of them are either highly situational, just not worth it, or reliant on critical success/failure. They primarily have so many spells because PAIZO wanted that School spell slot to not be completely wasted at any level, for any school. That's 80 spells right there, and 160 if you want 2 options for each. 2.) Wizards are finally SAD, but too bad it's a system where being MAD is easier than ever. Yes, you can focus on Intelligence, but that's both easier than ever and gives you less than ever since, outside of spellcasting, it only defines the number of skills you are "trained" in. 3.) Metamagic, being the 'one key term you need to know' is vastly disappointing. The only metamagic I see as worth it right now is Reach, which admittedly is probably better than it was in 1E. Still and Silent are WAY too situational, Widen is fairly pathetic, and Quicken, nice as it is, is too limited. 4.) Focus spells are one of the MAJOR new features, and Wizards seem to have been largely left out. They get fewer focus spells than any other spellcaster and those they get are almost universally worse. 5.) The 3-action economy is the next MAJOR new feature, and all spellcasters are quite limited here. With almost all spells taking 2 actions, that basically puts us back to the 'cast a spell and move' paradigm of 1E. Ok, we have a FEW more options for that one extra action, like Shield as a one-action cantrip, but not a whole lot. And yeah, VERY few reactions. Oh, and even with this new more flexible action economy, spellcasters actually get LESS benefit from Haste than ever. 6.) Spellcasters as a whole got nerfed, obviously, and poorly IMO, in 2E. They get denied a 1st level feat because Screw Casters, they get slower mastery of their class DC than anyone else because Screw Casters, the Wizard lower level spells are worse than ever because Screw Wizards specifically, and yet come 5th level spells and past, they're still ridiculously OP. It's like PAIZO saw the lvl 1-3 pathetic caster and decided to 'fix casters' by spreading that out to lvl 1-5 instead. I played an Arcanist in 1E, and my group is transitioning to 2E at level 9. I'm not calling this a killer, but I'm VERY disappointed so far. I haven't actually gotten a chance to play him yet. We'll see.
