Neidon is the outer planets mod from KSP1. That's a delta V map from the mod page
@notsofrenchy10 ай бұрын
@@churchseraphim1380yes but he also says “leaks leaks leaks” which implies that the delta v map is relevant to KSP2 and not just OPM. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had some modded content from ksp1, since many of the developers are also ksp1 modders.
@churchseraphim138010 ай бұрын
@@notsofrenchy I mean... maybe... but I think it's more likely that he's talking about the internal developer slack open. I def don't think OPM will be in the stock game as I don't think Poodmund would allow it and the original OPM dev fell off the face off the internet and it's license states not for commercial use... as much as I would love OPM to be stock because its so stock a like

KSP academy is such a fire idea and very well executed too. Slides are cool, chat interaction is well managed and the in-the-room audience and questions make the lecture feel lively, which can so often not be the case with virtual presentations -- I only wish that the room people were also mic'ed (might just be audio issues but).

Specific impulse is how many seconds you'd have to spend accelerating in free fall at 1G in order to be going the exhaust velocity of the engine.
@Meatloaf_TV10 ай бұрын
I always wondered how they came up with that number
@billsanders493310 ай бұрын
@Meatloaf_TV I don't know if that's how it came up; I think it was useful to have a way to represent exhaust velocity that didn't depend on imperial vs. metric. I just like it as an intuitive way to think about the number, even if it isn't very useful.
@SodaPopin5ki10 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if it's equivalent, but another way too look at specific impulse is how long a kg of propellant will last producing 1kg of thrust. A longer specific impulse means the propellant lasts longer, and hence is more efficient. Interestingly, another reason its given is seconds is so there would be a universal "unit" for exhaust velocity used by American and German transplant rocket scientists, instead of converting between feet per second and meters per second. You just divide the exhaust velocity by either 9.81 m/s^2 or 32 ft/s^2, and you get the same number in seconds.

If you move sideways, the ground curves away beneath you, because Earth is a sphere. Unfortunately you are also falling down towards the ground. But if you go sideways fast enough, the ground curved away further than you are falling. So in a sense an orbit is the art of falling down and missing the ground.
