I will say though the one ending where nicole manages what the principle couldn't was emotionally impactful in a way the rest of the routes absolutely were not. The closest you can get to a good ending..? Anyways. It's art in a way, but absolutely mostly an experiment.

Everyone's talking about the anime eyes when Nicole's fake-flirting (which is genius ofc), but I personally love the different camera angles going on throughout the scene-- it really makes the scene dynamic, and like something I would be seeing if it was an actual, professionally-made animation. Not to mention the other small details like students walking in the foreground, Jeffrey and Nicole's body language, the way characters in the foreground and background are shaded so as to draw attention to the character not shaded who's talking, etc. Would definitely love to see this animatic become an actual animation at some point!

Makes you realize some of the girls you’d date in those dating sims, are just downright crazy. It makes it hard to feel bad for her in the bad endings. But to me, the game puts a more realistic spin on dating sim games. Shows you no one is purely good and just. Save for a few. In the female mc isn’t one of them. Everyone is flawed and has their own baggage. Nicole is probably just one of the worse ones. Jeffery? Maybe the least bad.

I can't help but look at Jeffrey with a mixture of pity and disdain every time I see him on screen, even though I was also a socially awkward (possibly undiagnosed autistic) nerd who liked video games and anime during a time period when that was never really a cool thing to be (I'd have been ending Jr. High/starting high school in '09, for reference). I think the difference (and the source of my dislike for him) is because unlike him I actually had a healthy distrust of people in higher positions of social power than me and a modicum of actual self-respect, as well as a working understanding of at least basic social cues, all of which this kid seemed to lack. Like, I wanted to be liked and disliked my position on the social totem pole too, but I was never as creepy (as far as I know--I can't deny the possibility, even if small, that the people I hung out with might have been really nice/nicer than I deserved) or as easily manipulated as Jeffrey. I think the fact that I shared *any* traits with him at all is probably the source of my disdain for him.

I can't help but loathe Jeffery for similar reasons. I wasn't a nerd/geek/weeb or any of that. I was more or less the loner type. But I was, sadly admittedly more like Nicole but switch out the misandry for a hatred of authority. So in a rather screwed up way I actually like Nicole despite her problems and everytime I can see a bit of my high school self in Jeffery (such as easily being manipulated by the opposite sex) I get even more mad at him. Thankfully I wasn't ever such a hapless pervert though, praise the heavens for that. Edit: spelling is hard.
