My favorite Andy Rooney piece remains when he went to a gas station and bought one gallon of gas. The price was .999 per gallon. Andy hands the attendant a dollar and then asks for his change. The attendant tells him, "there is no change because it's a dollar". And Andy responds, "No it's not. It's .999". The attendant then responds, "We round it up to a dollar". And Andy asks, "Then why don't you round up to price you advertise?" And that's what we all love about Andy Rooney. He dared to give voice to all those things that bother all of us but that we never complain about. He was our voice!

This piece was awesome. A lot of people see Andy Rooney as a crotchety old man but, his rants bring a certain clarity to me. And something most people lack today, SENSE!

It is so scary to see how far we have come from this world of logic that Andy Rooney must have taken with him when he left. I miss the days when the world made so much sense. Now we have more information, technology, and more ways to be exceptable but we dont have simple logical common sense. Im sure thats just me getting old 🤷🏼‍♂️

I watched 60 Minutes in the early 1970s when I was a child, but I understood the segments for the most part. In any case, Andy Rooney was my fave of the show, and I about cried when he retired from it.

You know he is a lost art I want to Andy Rooney the shit out of everything these days July 29th 2022 welcome to the upside down! Every pop culture reference every important event eludes the current generation which cannot read cursive or write cursive. People can't figure out how to get their kids out of the house and off the video games you make the video games motion sensitive they only work if the kids up moving around kids got to be moving more than three and a half miles an hour consistently for the game to work we're just unplug them! He brings back the common sense of the reality that alludes so many of us these days not me! I'm alert awake and aware unfortunately. Anyway I digress LOL I love me some Andy Rooney I pass him on in whenever I get a chance.

@Koopgeminikiller It seems I've arrived to this page one month from you......only to be ordained as the seventy-ninth one to view. I agree. Some of the wisdom that this man has shared always struck me as pure magic. The arrogant self indulgent idiots who can't respect the "ramblings" of this man really need a reality check....because thats what Andy does. He keeps this nonsense world of "reality" in check. True genius for sure. More people need to listen...

Morley says "... until 1941 and the beginning of World War II." Actually, WWII is generally considered to have started in 1939 with the attack on Poland by Germany and Great Britain and the Commonwealth declaring war on Germany 2 days later. America didn't get involved until the incident at Pearl Harbor in December, 1941. Otherwise, great piece on Andy Rooney.

Rooney never saw one second of real combat. Like a lot of reporters, took pride in reporting about combat that he never saw!
@Bayou_409
@Bayou_409 Жыл бұрын
Define combat - being on Utah beach D+4 is about as real as it gets. German artillery was still hitting the beach then. He wasn't an infantry soldier, he wrote for Stars and Stripes - the men that told you about the event so you could later mischaracterize it and be pompous about it.
