Do we still use white if our dancer doesn't have white skin? My daughter's dance teacher decided the day before was a great time to make demands on required stage makeup.

Sorry new here. Is the line under the eye for a purpose or just a style? Is it for all dance? Or a ballerina thing?

It’s to emphasise the eyes as the distance from the audience and the lighting can make features hard to see

I was told to do this on my 2 year old for her recital. There is no way my two year old is sitting still long enough for me to get past applying “the base.”

The ballet studio which my girls attended did not take a pupil younger than five and even that was considered a bit young. ( British Royal Academy of Dance trained teacher) Others may differ but I think two years old is too young myself.

Personally I think she looks beautiful as she is but if makeup makes her feel confident and happy then go for it! ❤

It's for dance, with the stage lights you need makeup so your facial features can be seen and so you don't look super washed out (you still will but hopefully not as much)
@LegalAlien806 ай бұрын
@@ali_is2cool4uYou are absolutely correct they will look very washed out under lights. My sister was a ballet dancer and my three girls also did ballet and all looked fine on stage as did the other students. In practice without makeup faces looked washed out especially when dressed in bright outfits.. 🙂

Nothing to do with confidence - it’s because when someone is on a stage under bright lights, the audience can’t see their face.

To be honest girls her age don’t need makeup. Maybe something on the lip and a little mascara. They all ready have clear and pretty skin

true but with the stage lights and depending on how big the auditorium is you can become blurry. the makeup enhances your face 😁
@idkwhatshouldbemynamesoyea32353 жыл бұрын
@@elisemcdonald7475 they don’t really need to enhance their features thogh

@@idkwhatshouldbemynamesoyea3235 i do agree with that but really for a dancer this is pretty light make-up. yes this person is a child but again because if the lights and how many people they cant see expression without make-up. ive been dancing for 13 years and really all of us are running around with pounds of makeup on back stage.

As a professional makeup artist myself with over twenty years of experience. You cannot go for a natural or simple makeup look. It's not about the person's perfect skin, age etc. Unfortunately due to the bright lights on the stage. The perform will look washed out with simple makeup. They cannot possibly stand out without makeup being heavy. That's why as a makeup artist it's our job to apply the correct amount of make-up. Or they will simply not stand out. I hope this helps. All the best.
