Classic Cars Racing on Dirt - Autocross Racing 1966 “Racing Green” car crashes and roll overs ..

Yet another one of my dads "roscoe Films". You folks seem to be enjoying these period racing films and he would have been so pleased - it is after all why he made them.
this one is slightly different and more "Grass Roots" ( ha ha See what i did there !!) club motors sports.
Autocross was very popular in the 1960’s with people racing their daily driver around a field with the ability of mixing it with the likes of
rally champion Roger Clarke who can be seen interviewed here.
yet to be F1 driver Peter Westbury flies in. with cars such as
Mini, Imp, Cortina, Anglia, Sayers Special, with spins crashes and rolled cars. I hope you enjoy a peak into this golden age of motorsport.
yes the sound is dubbed but that’s what they did then !

These short films have become fascinating social documents and a visual record of a world that really doesn't exist anymore. Some of the cars are still with us, but sadly the people are gone.

My late Uncle Brian raced his Mini Cooper S in Autograss in the 1970's. I remember going to watch him at a place called Strongford on the A34 between Stoke on Trent and Stafford. Brilliant!!! Thanks for putting this up. Where did this simple but wonderful world slip away to? 😊

@@HamishRacing Very happy indeed. I used to cycle to his rented workshop where my uncle and his friend 'Belph' worked on their Cooper Ss. I raced motocross when it was still called scrambling and did a little shot circuit racing on an old Yamaha TZ350. Currently building my Norton Domiracer Lowboy replica, 'Rocinante' for, perhaps, a last hoorah 🙂
