Actually, TV goes at least as far back as 1939, in New York City. By 1946 there were several stations operating. I remember just about all of these ads, which would make them 1956 or later I was just about the age as the Maypo kid. And my favorite flavor of Jell-O was brack laspberry!

I was born in 1962 and my parents kept the card that was taped to my crib at the hospital. At the bottom was a little ad for Pet milk. Even back then...

Everything was set to music, jingles as they said back then. It's odd that they just couldn't talk out their products. I love the one with the mother and baby in it. That's adorable and I'm wondering what if that mother is still living and what the baby looks like today.

actually television existed since the late 30s, most stations during that time though were strictly experimental, a few stations started airing programs for general viewing the early 40s, but most stations shut down once the war started, which slowed down adoption of it, they started back up in the late 40s but TV didn't become popular until the early 50s, that being said, most comercials were shown as live segments in the shows back then.

40s 50s just looked so easy. Why couldn't life just be simpler than it is. To bad thats the past and life is just going to get harder. We always can live in the 40s 50s in our head, but not dream to much we forget reality.

there is nothing wrong with that, but it is my opinion. some women like to be housewives, and some dont. i think each person should do what makes them happy. for myself personally, i love making tons of home made things and taking care of the home. but, if i were to up and leave that position and get a job instead, my fiance would be behind me 100%. if a woman wants to work, or be a housewife, or be both, its her decision, whatever makes her happy! same with the man. but my fiance enjoys work :)

"Suppressed" by doing what they naturally loved. Oh, wait, you probably believe the modern propaganda that tells you they were all unhappy slaves and are all happily liberated now. Just ignore all the rampant unhappiness both sexes suffer from, that's no concern at all (cause the propaganda doesn't tell you to be concerned about it).
