There's a massive difference between the two. @Peter Rabbit Yes it is interesting but completely unsustainable. But something going on there. You obviously do realise then that he had to go to extremes to keep his ‘patients’ on the diet? I think it’s in some way related to the randle cycle. Carbs and fats together can be problematic. Also seed oils seem to be part of the problem. So Kempners diet is not a viable diet, and realistically probably not a great option therapeutically either (though potentially could work for some). Long term, even if you could stay on it, a plethora of nutrient deficiencies would be inevitable. Ultimately I think there are more than a couple of foods that can independently cause diabetes or at least co-contribute to the cause. Excess omega 6 and oxidised PUFA I suspect is the worst, but excess processed carbs and sugar I think is likely going to be bad as well. The 2 together is basically most processed food.

It was strong especially on your throat. It could actually burn a hole in your throat if you were tough enough to drink it nonstop till the bottle was empty. Because it was indeed a blend of different natural ingredients. I am not saying it was more healthy back then. However, I do remember the absolutely full-bodied, freshing taste.

PS: The same can be said for Nutella. That was so overloaded with chocolaty hazelnut taste. Mr. Ferrero would raise his fist out of his grave if he knew what they have done to it. It was made with full cream milk, cocoa butter, and a high portion of cocoa powder. Now it's palm oil, reduced cocoa, and skimmed milk. Werther's Originals - made with real butter and cream, rich in creamy-caramel taste. Now it's butterfat, shortening, and recombined cream. I worked in the food industry.

@@TheTenCentStory True, but once it enters the Human body, high-fructose corn syrup's chemistry converts that into upwards of 740 calories depending on an individual's pancreatic response/physiology.

@@stirlingfletcher7040 That's not true at all. Calories are energy and energy isn't out of nothing. Nonetheless, you shouldn't be drinking calories because it doesn't keep you full.

@@stirlingfletcher7040 2009 study? Come on. Never use studies more than 5 years old while newer information is present. The newest study states that you would have to consume such a large amount of artificial sweeteners to contribute to cancer that it's basically impossible. Like you are more likely to get skin cancer from forgetting to put on sunscreen than get cancer from artificial sweeteners. The notion that consuming artificial sweeteners triggers cravings is probably true. It does the same with real sugar...Calories in, Calories out. Sugar has a lot of calories and artificial sweeteners have very few calories. The choice is yours.
