@Peter Rabbit Yes it is interesting but completely unsustainable. But something going on there. You obviously do realise then that he had to go to extremes to keep his ‘patients’ on the diet? I think it’s in some way related to the randle cycle. Carbs and fats together can be problematic. Also seed oils seem to be part of the problem. So Kempners diet is not a viable diet, and realistically probably not a great option therapeutically either (though potentially could work for some). Long term, even if you could stay on it, a plethora of nutrient deficiencies would be inevitable. Ultimately I think there are more than a couple of foods that can independently cause diabetes or at least co-contribute to the cause. Excess omega 6 and oxidised PUFA I suspect is the worst, but excess processed carbs and sugar I think is likely going to be bad as well. The 2 together is basically most processed food.

The newest study states that you would have to consume such a large amount of artificial sweeteners to contribute to cancer that it's basically impossible. The notion that consuming artificial sweeteners triggers cravings is probably true. It does the same with real sugar...Calories in, Calories out.
